Perms are...
Well I suppose some have little to no trouble with them, but I've known several family members who get a perm only to have it fall out less than 48 hours later!
This poor lady had one done only to find it turning her hair an unpleasant rainbow of colors.
"A dirty sheepskin rug!" one of the ladies friends said of her hair.
Do you like strangely colored hair? I do!

I saw a girl this morning at the grocery store, she must have been about 20 or so, and her hair was the brightest orange I've ever seen. It look like she rose up from Hell this morning with her hair on fire. And yet she was so beautiful.

@moffittjc i used to dye my hair a "hot tamale red" but the manufacturer discontinued that color. I've yet to find a comparable one I like.

Orange.. I can't see that being pretty on anyone but I love a dark, fiery red.

I got a perm once, it was so frizzy I couldn't even get a pick through it! Soon after, I got it cut short to combat this problem. I'll never get another perm, if I live to be 100!

I remember being asked by my cousins when i was around 12 years old, "Do you want to get a perm? I'll pay for it!"
"No, thank you." I said. "It hardly seems worth it for a style that lasts less than a week!" This was the cousin who constantly had trouble keeping the perm set.

@kobesbuddy Mom would sit me down in front of the television on a Saturday morning and put curlers in my hair. Mom was a smart cookie, she knew the only way to get me out of that bed and over to get my hair curled was to promise me saturday morning cartoons!

@ScribbledAdNauseum My mother gave her 3 girls a home perm each year, to start school in the fall. School pictures were taken the first week, three curly headed Vance girls! lol I don't like strangely colored hair on me or anyone.

When I was a teen I liked getting perms because I wanted my hair curly but not tight they use to always look good when wet once it dried there was no curl. I hit I don’t want curl now I want straight so I straighten it.

@Tina30219 I guess it takes a lot of time each day to get it straight then.

I've always been envious of those with naturally curly hair. I sometimes get in the mood to have curly hair so I just wash, condition, brush and braid it to get it curly for the next day.

I do no mind some strange shades but not on me.
I remember in beauty school, some of the clients got weird things done to their hair.

@RebeccasFarm We had burgundy furniture here at one time. Well, we still have the couch but it's in desperate need of replacement.

I think the weirdest thing I'd ever want is a bright shade of red or almost purple. I once dyed my hair a beautiful burgundy. It was just this side of un-natural looking.

Two whole columns because her hair turned green! This wouldn't be covered like that today! No, I usually don't care for strangely colored hair.

Oh no, people wouldn't even blink at strangely colored hair today. My grandmother used to bleach her hair and by bleach I mean clorox. She had yellow, lime green, pukey colored hair.

@LindaOHio She used to color it that way on a regular basis and we just didn't understand why.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yikes! Your hair would be like straw after treating it like that!

I am okay looking at strangely colored hair. It's a personal choice. I would personally not go for it.

I tried dyeing my hair purple once but my hair is too dark. It looked nice in the sunlight though.

@arunima25 Yes it is and there are so many different shades of purple you can use. I like when I see people that have the purple highlights in their hair. I also like those who do the "peekaboo hair" which is where the hair is colored underneath but the top layer is their natural hair color.

I have used henna several times. It is a little messy to use but it leaves my hair feeling soft.

I feel it's mostly a waste of time. My hair is not naturally curly, but when I want curly hair I wash it, condition it and then braid it while it's wet.

Of course it turned colors and frizzed! Some medications will make hair do that when you use old time chemical treatments on hair! OMG that is so funny! And it wasn't even the hair dresser's fault!

Yes, some people can carry off the colored hair and look beautiful doing it... and yes, when I see someone with colored hair and it looks good on them I do give a compliment. When I see someone with colored hair that should have been told not to do it I roll my eyes and snicker to Pretty about it. Not everyone can do that and look good with it.

Yeah I felt like it was a lot more her fault than anything else...
Funny enough, most of the time I see people with wildly colored hair at walmart. I mean, i do go to very few places, but I never see them at the regular groceries or club stores, just at walmart.

@DaddyEvil Kind of odd how that works out, isn't it? With short hair I look more like my dad, but then most people used to say I was the female version of my dad. He always had long hair.
I need to go get my hair professionally cut one of these days, I've been cutting it myself for years.

Yeah, I work at Walmart. Funny, that's where I see people sporting the colored hair, too.
Pretty talked about having her hair dyed blue for a while but then the pandemic struck... We've both gotten hair cuts since things opened back up but only once... and we stayed there as short a stay as we could manage. (Pretty had 13 inches cut off her hair. I don't like her hair short, but I'm not the one wearing it, so don't get a vote anymore. She looks too much like her mom with it short. Don't tell her I said that!
She'll get mad! With her hair long she looks like me...

That's the truth, though.)
