Got a new LG gas dryer

So I went to Home Depot yesterday to buy an LG gas dryer. I could've just ordered it online but I wanted to see it in person, make sure I ordered everything I need to have it installed, and get answers to some questions I had. I got to the store to find that they didn't have the dryer I wanted on display. That was a bummer. I saw pics of it online but I wanted to see it in front of me and look at all the controls and see the inside, etc. I asked the salesperson if there is a way to find out if it's on display at another location but she told me she has no way of knowing. I doubt that is the case. She probably just doesn't know how to check. I didn't want to drive to another location as I had no idea they'd have the dryer on display so I just bought it there. They had a similar size dryer so I looked at that one for comparison to make sure it's a good size and has the features I need. I also found out that my dryer is a smart dryer. Not really sure what that means but doesn't matter as this was the least expensive LG gas dryer and actually had the look I wanted. The dryer cost $899 but because they had a Presidents' Day sale I ended up paying $798. Though I would have preferred to save even more, saving $101 was great. I am glad I waited. The installation was expensive though. $310 plus the cost of the required parts for installation. I agreed to it. I wanted a professional to install it for me, and trying to find someone else to do it for me wouldn't guarantee less spending, so it was best to have them do it. The dryer should arrive Wednesday. Hopefully, the install will be done the same day. I read online that they deliver it and then call you to schedule an install. Hope that is not the case. I want it done the same day. That was one of the questions I asked the salesperson and she had no idea. She also had no idea when I asked her if it is okay to plug in the dryer into an extension cord if it doesn't reach the outlet as they usually say must plug directly into the wall. She had no idea about this either. She told me to call her supervisor and/or ask the delivery people. I'd think a salesperson in the appliance department should know these things. Guess not.

Such a pain waiting to find out if they can install the same day..that should be standard procedure. Well good you got money off the price Lena. Congratulations on your new dryer.

Even though my mom is gonna reimburse us for it I still wanted her to save money. Now on to looking for a new fridge. Wanna try to find one before the President's Day sale ends. Can't really find one that fits (height-wise) and has the width we want.

@lovebuglena Oh so nice of Mom..and I do hope you will now also find a nice fridge at a decent price Lena. At least there will be no installation involved with that.

I don't think plugging a dryer into an extension cord is a good idea. I doubt that they will do the install on the same day; but good luck with that. We ordered all of our appliances online and were very happy with them. We got ours from Lowes.

Since I've been living here with hubby and when I was living here with my parents many years ago our washer/dryer has always been plugged into the extension cord. I am not sure if they were plugged into an extension cord because the wires didn't reach the outlet or not but that area only has one outlet and we also needed to plug in the water pump. Maybe that's the reason. At any rate, I hope the dryer cord will reach the outlet. The washer one turns out wasn't fully extended and that's why it didn't reach. Hubby made it full length so now it does. We will still have to figure out where to plug in the water pump but for now I just want the washer/dryer taken care of. Do not want to use extension cord.

Glad you got a break on the price. The salesperson should have known the answers.

Yep. That's one of the reasons why I went there.
