What Does 'an Actor's Personal View/Personality' have to do with 'a Part they Play'?

Gina Carino--who played Cara Dune in Disney+'s THE MANDALORAN--just got fired for 'comparing Republicans to Holocaust victims' (among other unreasonable tweets). https://www.msn.com/en-us/movies/news/gina-carano-fired-from-the-mandalorian-after-comparing-republicans-to-holocaust-victims/ar-BB1dAwMS?ocid=uxbndlbing 'I'm not "defending her opinions," but' (a phrase I often introduce a lot of my commentary-with, on President Trump, Roseanne Barr, and others who say wrong-wrong things often) I don't see what 'her personal views' have to do with 'her portrayal of a fictional character' (or a real-life character, if she lands a role in a bio-pic). I guess I get 'why Disney+ is firing her'---they're responding to a FireGinaCarano-hashtag and their fear that people will end their 'Disney+'-subscriptions en masse if 'actors with warped views' remain on the cast (sorta like people stopped watching House of Cards because Kevin Spacey was inhuman ... or something, I wasn't watching in the first place ...) Maybe celebrities could be compared to 'Holocaust victims' (although probably not ... maybe something more like "early Christians in pagan Rome" or "young homosexuals in conservative households"---people with views that run against their surrounding culture). So why do audiences conflate "actors' personal views" with "the stories that others hire them to help tell"?

First of all, when Carino likened the experience of Jews during the holocaust and the "persecution" being felt by pro-Trump supporters is utterly false. It's like saying black is white, true is false, etc. Precisely the doublespeak George Orwell was criticizing in his "1984" novel. Secondly, that comment was just the last straw on the camel's back. Carino made a series of hate tweets in the recent past for which she is neither apologetic nor truthful about. Free speech is consitutionally ensured in the U.S. (therefore protected from criminalization) but marginalized people can resort to social / peer pressure when attacked by hateful speech, for hateful speech does not end on the verbal level -- it has violent repercussions. Hitler himself started in such a free-speech environment.

Still, what does that have to do with 'a bounty-hunter from long-long ago in a galaxy far-far away?'

@stewartclint Understood. You also help me see 'something else that kind of confuses me': if the people producing movies & TV-shows just want to 'tell us stories to fascinate our imaginations,' why do they tell us the real-life names of the cast? Especially now that--if we want to know the cast-members' real-life names--we can go to iMDB or the production's wiki-page? I'll try to find out ... ... but maybe you- or one of your connections-know the basic reason ???

@mythociate In simple terms: this 'bounty-hunter from long-long ago..' story is making her popular, more so because of the show's high ratings. She is using her popularity to spread hate. Reducing that popularity reduces one's power to spread hate. On the other hand, of course, it is not that simple. But it's a start for further discussion. My previous comment was an attempt to clarify the events, and I forgot to provide my take on the original question. My mistake.

There are people who will stop watching movies or shows certain actors/actresses star in because of something they said in relation to politics or some other issue or thing happening in the country or in the world. I don't associate one with the other. If I like certain people as actors/actresses I won't stop watching their movies or shows because of something they may have said on live tv or on social media. I keep their personal lives separate from their acting lives.

I don't know (and probably am not going to try and find out). Reminds me of Trump's "There were good people on both sides."
