Trying To Get A Doctor To Listen

There is some concern by nurses dealing with my dressings change on my cancer operation entry wound (still slowly healing) that the liquids oozing from it could be getting infected. They are coming out more frequently and darker / thicker too. One nurse described the discharge as clotty.
Samples were taken and sent to my doctor. I was instructed to phone him on Friday. I called Friday morning to be put on hold in a queue of 12 people listening to the worse music ever used on such stacking systems. I got through to a surly secretary to be told that while my doctor had the results he hadn’t read them and I should call back later. I tried but got put on hold so long that I gave up.
Monday – My dressings nurse tried calling the doctor but also quit when she couldn’t get through. I tried at 10.30 am to be told that the notes were out on my case but she couldn’t make sense of them. She told me to call back at 1pm to book a phone consultation. After being 26th in line I got through again at 1pm to be told the doctors were all out of office doing their rounds. I demanded angrily to know why I was asked to call my doctor at a time he wasn’t even in. I got no answer.
Much later I got a call to say a doctor will call me tomorrow at 4.20pm. They asked me to consider phoning my stoma nurse even though this has nothing to do with my stoma (something I also wear and change daily, but I can deal with that myself.) I just got a wild goose chase from the practice secretaries so less than happy with their services.

How awful. I'm sorry you've had to go through this. Did you get your call from the doctor?

@LadyDuck some delays can be down to covid but much of it is inexcusable

@arthurchappell I fully agree with you and in your case I think it's unacceptable.

That is awful that they are giving you the run around in something like this. I only hope that the outcome means nothing serious is happening otherwise I'd hope the doctor was more forthcoming with the results.
