I remember when i was a kid 12 and below ,my parents called me by name in loud voice,for example i am playing and will call me for lunch.
When I've grown up i never experienced they called me by name that way.
Like my father,if he talked to me,he will come to me and tell whatever it is.
At this age of 30's,i think it's not good to listen if someone is calling us in our name in shouting way,isn't?Even whoever person it is.
My husband as well don't call me by shouting or loud voice.
He is polite and smooth talker.
How about you?

My parents spoke loudly all my life. It was because by the time I came along, they had begun to lose their hearing. As a result, I'm told I speak rather loudly, too because that's how I learned to talk.

@kaylachan my parents were not that loud but when scolding you they had to raise their voices. Am quiet a louder person a trait from my mum's background. I lived with my grandparents and grandma used to speak louder. Right now mum doesn't hear properly due to old age on the phone call you have to shout for her to get what you're saying!

Everyone was polite and soft in the joint family where I grew up. So I grew up to be soft speaker. But it was different in the family I got married to. Here, they normally talk loudly.

@rhuenz
Now I have lived with them for more than 20 years. I am used to it. Glad that my daughters talk softly.
