Progress is moving very slowly on my living and dining room areas. My girls are taking their sweet time. Because the rooms are empty as well as void of carpeting now, we have had furnace issues. The furnace knows it will never get the temp up to the setting so it just shuts down. Because of that I have taken some things into my own hands. I ordered an area rug. That is my financial contribution.
My older daughter bought a second hand cabinet and refinished it. It's a good height and depth to replace my china cabinet (they don't like my old china cabinet but are not getting rid of it). Though she did a good job, the doors are wonky on this cabinet and no one is listening to me when I say I don't like it. I was told they were TRYING stuff and if it didn't work they would do something else. She worked hard on the cabinet but I don't like it. Maybe I will post it in a comment below.
But these bookshelves.... Oh, I can't wait to fill them up with books and photographs and birds! They still have to ground them so I can't do that yet. When are they going to ground them? After the new light fixture goes into the living room (we only used lamps in there before). And when is the new light fixture going in? Who the heck knows? They put an identical one in the dining room and it looks really nice. And they have new curtains on the front window (nothing on the side/dining room window yet).
I sort of like the new arrangement in the dining room as the dining room table has more space and is now centred under the light fixture. Pictures of those will come later. The bottom of my china cabinet is still in use, just the top they are removing (to storage) unless I insist on using it.
Hopefully this will all be done by spring.

Considering there is a bookshelf that was in that room which is filled with books... and they want to sell that book case so the sooner I can fill the shelf, the sooner they can get money for the other. Everything they have sold (of my furniture) they have put towards the reno. They are both unemployed now due to the pandemic but I believe they are still getting money coming in.

@JudyEv My younger daughter applied for the government compensation and got a one time payment. And now I believe she is receiving unemployment insurance. My older daughter got laid of permanently from one job but received a package. She only got laid off from her second job in January. She could be called back at any time but I believe is receiving unemployment insurance payments now. As someone with a Disability Tax Credit Certificate, I received a one time payment of $600. I may have to pay it back though.

Depends on how much time they have to put into projects. Renos and makeovers can take a while especially if you're doing it yourself. I'm sure, by the time its all finished, it'll be amazing.

They are waiting for prices to go down on an accent chair but I am now thinking we need two. I put almost $400 down on the area rug, do I want to put another $400 down on two chairs? I don't know. It's not like I don't have the money, it's just I want it to look comfortable. When it's so empty it's not "warm" and cozy.
Here is a pic of the cabinet. There is paint on the underside of the butcher block top and the doors don't close and are crooked.

@patgalca Looks more like a clothes closet than a china cabinet.

The room still looks so bare and nothing is moving forward. If my husband was on his old work schedule stuff would be getting done, but his new schedule (since one of his plants shut down) has him working 5 days a week and too tired to move on the weekend. He has helped out a bit but these girls need a push... and not down the ski hill which is where my younger daughter is right now.
