Several years ago I went to a car boot sale and I brought a dish that I recognised as having been made by the Quimper pottery in France. I knew what it was because I had seen this sort of pottery being sold at auction on an antiques show on the television. So I wanted to find out more about collecting this sort of pottery so I brought this book about Quimper pottery.
I found the book to be very interesting because it gave me a lot of information on the history of the pottery and the products being made there. Unfortunately, I also learned that the dish that I had brought was made in recent years and it was not worth as much as an older dish would have been.

Most of the products sold in our shops have been made in China these days. I think it is cheaper for them to produce things because their wages are so low.

@lazydaizee I'm sure you're right but I still like the authentic items.

@JudyEv I like authentic items too and this is why I often buy older bits and pieces . The old stuff was made to last unlike many things being made today.

Well, that's life. At least you tried and learned something new out of it.... right?

Yes, I did learn a lot from the book and now I know a bit more about what to buy at a car boot sale.

I have learned a lot from this book and now I will recognise a modern dish if I see one.
