Critter Vision!!!

I used to think there were two ways to look at squirrels: nuisance, or cute things to watch. I choose the latter. My late neighbor had the former opinion, telling me once she heard a squirrel scratching at her back door one day and blamed me. CritterVision, a You Tube channel of a couple in South Carolina, puts in a third option: rulers of the roost! I found this channel by accident, because I like to watch live channels (especially animals, and especially when it’s cold here). It is an elaborate set-up, complete with a ceramic frog named Gary that holds food for the animals, a water basin (that raccoons frequently stand in at night while they’re eating ), and several “troughs” for holding food. Twice a day one of the homeowners will come out, clean the area, and restock the food supply. They make it specific for the animals, too: lots of peanuts in the day for the squirrels, and “deer food” and leftovers for the nocturnal critters. It is so calming to watch...and so funny, too. Animals will be animals, whether they’re in the wild or ruling our lives from a litter box. As a result, the raccoons and the possum will occasionally have stare-downs, or the deer will stand back and look at the raccoons as if they’re aren’t sure what to make of the critters washing their hands in the water. If you need a relaxing moment, tune in on You Tube!!
Welcome to CritterVision! A 24/7 live-streaming cam of our local wildlife as seen from our backyard. Animals we've seen: deer, raccoons, opossums, squirrels...

Those critters are living their best life! Thanks for the suggestion. I think this would be a perfect thing to play in the background too, just the noises of nature are calming.

I’ve fallen asleep with it on when it’s been raining. That’s the white noise I usually have playing at night (rain).

@FourWalls I love rain on a tin roof sounds. I think the little chittering and chirping would be calming too. A friend of mine has a squirrel they rescued. Tried to let back out into the wild but I can't remember why that wasn't successful.

You have your own to watch so you really have no need for that video.

When I have time, I watch the osprey cams in CT and FL. Always hoping to see Orville somewhere.

I'd love to see what goes on in our yard at night - if anything!
