Seems sanitation can pick up dryers

I have to confirm it but it seems that the sanitation department can pick up a clothes dryer according to what I found online.
Dryers are considered recyclable items.
They have to be placed outside the night before collection and they will be picked up on recyclables collection day.
The information did not say which dryers so not sure if gas ones are eligible and what size they have to be.
If this is true then it'll be great.
It's free so we will save money as hiring someone to remove it would not be free.
All we'll have to do is figure out how to move the old dryer from the basement out onto the street.

I did not know that about dryers being recycled.

I did not know either. I went to the NYC gov website and it says there that washers and dryers are considered recyclable items.

@lovebuglena I doubt that dryers can be recycled in Lake Charles.

@Deepizzaguy Maybe it depends on where one lives.

Did you call the city to confirm this? I hope it works out for you.

I tried calling 311 but when I do I get a message: "Service you are calling is not available from this location." That is weird. If I live in NYC I just have to dial 311 and not the full number. The full number is for those that are calling not from NYC.

Never got someone to pick up your old dryer? And, how'd you get it in?

The place where I bought the new dryer did not take away the old one because it was still connected to the gas. And they don't come back on a different date to pick up the old appliance.

Seems that way. Not sure yet when to try to put it outside.

I hope that you can. Here we have two facilities that we can take them too, but the city will only pick them up from the residence once a year.

@lovebuglena Ah, city services might have alternate hours with covid going on. Hope you can get ahold of them tomorrow.

For sure. The last thing I want is to be stuck with the old dryer in my house. Or have to pay big bucks to get rid of it.
