Ten Favorite Bands With Multiple Lead Singers: Eagles (#3)

Hey, it’s getting closer, my salamander (that’s a Paul McCartney song). I’m almost at the top of my list of favorite bands with multiple lead singers. Guess I’ll have to throw in a bonus or two. But first, here’s a band that’s only shocking in that they don’t show up at the top of the list! #3: Eagles Reason being, I’ve met members of this band and the #2 band, and I’d much rather hang with the #2 band! No, that’s not it. It’s just that, over the years, I’ve found myself gravitating to the #2 band more. But meanwhile..... “Everybody had to look good and sing good,” Glenn Frey once said in describing his vision for the Eagles. And, for the most part, they nailed it. Over the years, though, the primary lead singing duties fell to chief songwriters Don Henley and Glenn Frey. Everyone, however, shared lead vocal duties. Heck, they even let Don Felder try one (“Visions” from One of These Nights). And ONLY one...and if you wonder why, listen to his tinny voice on that song. Felder claimed, and still claims, that he was supposed to sing lead on “Victim of Love,” the smoking rocker from Hotel California. If you ask me, the decision to let Henley sing it instead is a major difference in that album selling the 22 million it did and the 2 million it might have otherwise. Yeah, Felder’s that weak a vocalist. (I mean, he’s okay, but not a voice suited for lead vocal duties in the Eagles.) They did okay with the multiple lead singers, didn’t they! Eagles Lead singers: Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Bernie Leadon, Randy Meisner, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit Here’s the biggest hit the Eagles ever had with someone other than Henley or Frey doing the lead singing duties:

These guys could easily been #1! One of my favorite songs and not even sung by Frey or Henley! Almost everyone who was an Eagles member could sing
