The inspiration for this song came from a poem Lori Lieberman wrote about her strong reaction to "Empty Chairs" a song by Don McLean. In 1975 Led Zeppelin came out with their sixth album Physical Graffiti in the UK In 1982 The Police won for Best British Group at the first annual Brit Awards in London. Best Album for Kings Of the Wild Frontier went to Adam and the Ants, Cliff Richards won British Male Solo Artist and Randy Crawford British Female Solo Artist. Outstanding Contribution went to John Lennon. In 1982 at the Grammy Awards for Album of the Year Double Fantasy John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Kim Carnes for Song of the Year "Bette Davis Eyes," Producer Of the Year Quincy Jones and Best New Act Sheena Easton In 2000 Carlos Santana won eight awards at the Grammy Awards for his Supernatural album

I can't remember what the debut album was for Fleetwoodmac. Oh well. I like that song, I haven't heard it in a very long time.

@rebelann the debut album was also known as Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, and included blues covers and originals

@rebelann -- here I am, laughing at the your comment because one of Fleetwood Mac's classic songs from their early period is called "Oh Well." Then I thought, "Nash, she probably didn't mean it that way." Silly me!

For the record, Roberta Flack did not write "Killing Me Softly With His Song." Lori Lieberman did. Did you know "Bette Davis Eyes" was a cover of a song by Jackie DeShannon?

@RasmaSandra — don’t sweat it. Lots of people think that someone wrote a song because they sang it. I was in the Alabama Music Hall of Fame and they had Toni Tennille listed as the writer of “Love Will Keep Us Together.” I do not expect that kind of mistake from a place with historians and scholars on staff. The web? Anyone can put something on here.

@FourWalls well just for the record I did correct it. I at least like to have my facts straight. you know I sometimes triple check things when I have to send in my writing because the things I write about come off the web and you would have your hair standing on end what is out there

I believe today singers are like on a factory line and they just keep pumping out more but the music loses in translation @RebeccasFarm
