How does it earn?

Wikipedia is one of my favorite sites. But am just wondering how does it earn since a website has maintenance to pay. Does it accept donations? Because as far as I know it has no ads.

They ask for donations every year and I always donate something, as I use Wikipedia I support them.

@Janet357 At the beginning of the year when you use Wikipedia you get a message asking for donations.

It's also one of those sites that's user-based, too. Anyone can make an account and post just about anything.

Wikipedia is supported by donations. Every so often, you should see a message pop up asking you to donate. If you use it often, you really should send it some money!

A couple of times recently when I went on that site I got a pop-up at the top of the page asking for a donation. So maybe they have to rely on donations
