100 years ago today: Wives being murdered

I think that was my favorite line of the article entitled " Mother of wife slayer in court as trial begins" Finding impartial jurors was not easy for this case. Twenty Eight jurors were excused after being asked if the wife's character would skew their judgments. It begs the question just what was the wife like? I doubt she was all that bad, at least not in today's standards. There's a little clip about a young wife choked to death as well. Apparently the poor girl (she was sixteen) as found dead with her wardrobe (dresser) rifled through and her purse strewn about. Wives were not safe in Omaha, Nebraska 100 years ago, were they?
