Sewing is a hobby I've been meaning to take up for years. It was supposed to be cheaper to make your own clothes. My uncle sewed his own clothes and is a fashion designer. Thinking maybe start with making a few skirts. This is quite a talent to have. Do you sew your own clothes?

This is impressive. Did you make your own patterns or buy patterns?

Oh no. I have not the talent. I am not artistic nor creative. But I do admire seamstresses and tailors who could cut and sew and turn fabrics and textiles into beautiful clothing wear.

@db20747 Back in the good old days, I had a neighbor for a seamstress and she made me blouses and skirts, and straight cut dresses also. That's what she'd tell me, she needs to make a pattern. Your parlor must be a pretty thing. What do you call your workplace - Danna's Creations?

@db20747 My mother was a fashion designer and a dressmaker before getting married. She did not work anymore after she married, but she always sewed my dresses and I learnt a lot from her.

Nope, I can’t see at all. I tried learning because schools here make you take a class in middle school. Some times fabric bu the yards is more expensive then just buying something. I like price shopping a lot so I just buy what I need when I need it.

@db20747 impossible where I live. No such thing as clearance fabric some forms you’ll find marked downs or returns but not often.

My grandmother was a professional seamstress for many years. She made everything from curtains to bridesmaids dresses. My mother sewed a lot too. I tried to learn it when I was a young teenager, but I wasn't good at it. Best wishes with your new hobby!!
