My Rating *** Genre – Horror/Creature Feature Run Time – 95 Minutes. Certificate – 15 Country – U.S.A So no clues needed for what the menace is in this ‘Creature Feature’, spiders truly terrifying at two inches never mind horror movie size. During lockdown I discovered a free horror movie channel and have been panning my way through to find some gold or, at least, something that is shiny enough to pick out the pan and give it a closer look. Whop doesn’t love a B-Movie about spiders? How can you go wrong? It’s from first time director Micah Gallo, who has graduated up from his work on horror genre movies Frozen, Hatchett and The Innkeeper, as writer etc. The cast is also fairly unknown although Bruce Davidson as the ‘star’ here has a serious cannon of work, no fewer than 270 film credits. This guy doesn’t care what he is in and fair play to that. He texted his performance in here. ===Cast=== • Bruce Davison as Walter • Denise Crosby as Sheriff Jane • Elizabeth Roberts as Kara • Arman Darbo as Jesse • Chloe Perrin as Cambria • Treva Etienne as Ahkeeba • Eileen Dietz as Sally • Matty Cardarople as Donny • Grace Shen as Storyteller Priestess ===Plot==== Live-in nurse Kara (Elizabeth Roberts) is the mother of Jesse (Arman Darbo) and his younger sister Cambria (Chloe Perrin). They have just moved into the big country house of grumpy treasure hunter and artifact collector Walter Clark ( Bruce Davidson), who has recently had a run in with a fellow hunter over purchased and fabled artifact, the ‘Black Egg of Maa-Kalaratri'. During the set-to the relic is smashed in his house in anger and a rather large prehistoric spider unleashed on the residents but oblivious to the threat. Kara is trying to get over family tragedy and self medicating to calm herself from flashbacks of that night. When she has a panic attack in the local diner she is reassured by local Sheriff Jane Dunne (Denise Crosby), who clocks Kara's addiction. Back at the house stuff begins to happen as the spider, the size of a domestic cat, explores its new surroundings. Legend has it that it needs a sacrifice to return to its realm, the young family and the treasure hunter a good place to start. ===Results=== A 27% disapproval rating on Rottentomatoes, no doubt cruelly accrued by hardcore film buffs who tend to be the ones that rate on these film sites, is not matched by the professional critics, who gave it a healthy 60%. I’m with them. If RT gives a film over 60% it’s enough for me to watch it. It’s a B- Movie so familiar cost cutting tropes on show. The spider looks like plastic thing you could buy in toy shop and a northern housewife could take it out with a frying pan pretty quickly. But our fragile family - and company - are duly terrorized by it as it goes about its business. Its good fun and if you into t thinking it’s going to be naff then it will probably entertain you as a lot better than you hope. It’s nothing special but you go with it and although the spider doesn’t get any bigger it’s still silly fun. B list acting and worryingly attractive young children playing the kids slightly chips an edge of it but OK dialogue and edgy obvious tension adds to the tempo and fun. You know, of course, how it’s going to end but who cares as the black hairy thing freaks us all out. ===RATINGS=== Imdb.com /10.0 (votes) Rottentomatos.com –60% critic’s approval Metacritic.com – 49% critic’s approval ===Trailer=== https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6895284/awards/?ref_=tt_awd

Interestingly enough, I actually do like B horror movies. They are cheesy, but fun, and admittedly often offer more in the way of comedy than horror. But there are some classics out there. Not sure if this would be one. But who knows? I'd watch it.

@thedevilinme Pretty much. Amazing that they do as well considering successful horror MUST suspend disbelief successfully in order to pull the whole thing off. In B movies, I don't think anyone has to beliueve, for a moment, what is happening is even possible. It's just entertainment.
