Hi guys, Hope you all are doing good. I am doing good too. I came to know about this news and thought of sharing with you guys. Sundar Pichai the CEO of Google announced giving 25 million dollars to NGO's and Social Enterprise for Women Empowerment in India. This was announced on 8th March i.e. on Women's Day. Moreover, through Google's Saathi Programme the women in rural areas will be taught skills in order to generate their own enterprise by giving them online tutorials, online workshops etc. This is such an amazing news. A whole lot of women will be benefited by this scheme.

That sounds like a great move and hope many women benefit from it. I often think that women get employed and learn skills but do they really get empowered in true sense. That has to come from self and helping other women. Also only and only parents especially mothers can bring that change for long run. And gender neutral parenting and education is the need for that.

When I was young they said women should be educated so that they have to pay little or no dowry. By the time I finished my education, I realized that educated woman needed even more educated spouse, and they don't come cheap. LOL. Otherwise, the educated woman takes her dowry (she still has to pay some), and slogs effectively doubling up her dowry across the years. I hope this will not turn out to be something like that.

I hope so. But I would rather that we be the one at giving end. That seems an unachievable objective unless we curtail our population.

This is very good news for all women in India. I just hope that the money will not go to projects that do not directly benefit them and I also hope that the money will not go to corrupt hands and pockets.
