Just over 14 hours home and I’m breaking out in a rash: I have to stay home for eleven days! No worry, that’ll give me enough time to fling more dream songs at you. Here’s one that’s a Frankenstein of a song! I Can Dream About You - Dan Hartman Remember the instrumental, “Frankenstein,” by the Edgar Winter Group? Dan Hartman was in that band. In fact, Hartman wrote and sang lead on the other big Edgar Winter Group song, “Free Ride.” And then he showed up in the mid-80s, with this song from the film Streets of Fire. I’ve never seen the movie, so I can’t tell you what it’s about. I do remember the video of the soul group singing this. And now you find out it was actual a white guy singing! Hartman also co-wrote the James Brown hit “Living in America.” He had quite a successful career as a songwriter, producer, and musician until AIDS cut his life short in 1994. He left us a number of songs to fondly remember him by....including this one.
