I was spending a lot of time this morning doing family history research. It started b/c I was looking for my great grandmother Annie Alma Christy (Shelton)'s obituary, and went from there. Found out my family on the Shelton side is even bigger than I originally thought. At some point in the future if I can, I may write up a full family tree for you all, might find I've got some long lost relatives here on Mylot, who knows.

Found my aunt through ancestry DNA a few years ago. She was put up for adoption as an infant, and I was the last relative to have met her as far as I'm aware. Few of us here on mylot that do geneology occasionally.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Amazing these days what you can find w/just a bit of research. Years ago, my aunt Rose did her own genealogy/family tree, found out we're related to Blake Shelton, the country singer. Some days, I'm not sure whether to take pride in that or not, I mean he's a cousin done good, but he's also got some issues lol.

@jnrdutton Yeah I understand that. I don't have any celebrity relations that I know of, but I'm not sure I'd want to anyway. It's unlikely they'd do anything for me.

There are so many ways to do research online these days. It's amazing. I was able to find out that a dear friend who I lost track of passed away. Not a happy revelation; but I was able to find him.

I'm sorry for your loss. @LindaOHio, as for online research, it can be great, but there are a few types of sites I wouldn't trust, Specifically, some background check websites that collect data in aggregate. I saw one that STILL had me listed as living at an address I haven't lived at in almost a decade.

I started this a few years ago and didn't find much.
