Yes, you saw right and one day, Washington will find a better name but that's neither here nor there. The Washington Football Team has officially let go of Alex Smith. Not because of his football talent but because they're worried about another injury. It was stated. Now however, they have signed veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick for a one year deal. The contract is worth 10 million dollars but can become 12 million with incentives. Fitzpatrick was playing for the Miami Dolphins and is close to playing for all the teams in the NFL. I'm kind of wondering if he will before he retires. Like, is that his goal? No one is entirely sure of this choice as of yet. In my opinion, I don't see where Fitzpatrick is better than Smith. I don't see the upgrade there. Washington fans, how are you feeling about the deal this morning? *picture from google

Another dumb move by Washington. I wish they would get a new owner. I think Smith wanted to leave..but the perfect quarterback for them is Heincke who needs to be first string..They should have kept the other two as back up. However, my guess is they will try to make Fitzpatrick the starter and he doesn't have a great record.Dumb Washington..it hurts to be a fan, although they did end up making the play offs last year. They always have unrealized potential.

Smith only ever commented that he knew he was not welcome there. It was not just the management but the coaches and the team members. I don't blame him for wanting to leave. Heinicke needs some work though. When he did play last year, he wasn't that good. Practice is most definitely needed but he could be better this year. Fitzpatrick isn't a bad QB but he's not that great either. They would do better making him the back up and Heinicke the starter.

@JordanLader No, Heinecke is great! He almost beat Tom Brady in the playoff game. He is an amazingly accurate thrower.
