Elle Thorpe is a new author to me. I found out about her books on Facebook and just decided to give her a try. I'm glad that I did. The story behind Buck, is that Nate's sister has a baby girl and they're trying to limit how much they cuss around her. So when Nate goes to say the F word he quickly remembers and replaces it with Buck. It's funny and it just stuck, not to mention it starts to rub off on their friends around them. Hallie has loved Nate for as long as she can remember and before he hit the big time rodeo, she decided to give him a gift...that he threw back at her. Her virginity. Hallie never did forget that night, even years later. Shortly after that night, Nate left for the rodeo and became a big name. Visiting his sister and family, he wondered if he would run into Hallie again. What would happen if he did. Go figure they would at the bar everyone goes to. He even gets a dance, but their lives become more tangled than he had originally planned when his sister and family leave the bar and get into a car crash. Hallie helps pull his niece out while the rest of the people in the bar come to help him get his sister and her husband out. It was something that he missed about small towns, everyone is always there for you no matter what. As his sister and husband are stuck in the hospital, Nate has to take care of his niece...which he has no idea how to do. He hasn't been around long enough for the girl to like him or trust him. If he can't earn the trust of a baby, how is he going to get back into Hallie's good graces. Good thing she knows that he's only in town temporarily. Hallie decided to walk into this fling with eyes wide open this time. If she keeps telling herself that, just maybe she'll start believing it. When Nate left, he had wanted the money and the fame. Now that he had it, he has no idea why he wanted it in the first place when it cost him so much. The question is, will he Buck up before he looses it all again? Elle Thorpe is a funny writer. You will laugh through out this book, but it will also break your heart a bit. Not like tear-jerker breaking but sadness. I would recommend it. *picture from google
