Yeah... Well there will be a generation that will come that won't remember the first time computers came out, because they were not born yet. Every generation has something no one remembers. My generation happens to be one that many things came into place, more than any other generation.

Well i remember when we didn’t even have cable and there were only three local channels available in our tv. And my father was a Great movie watcher and we would rent Betamax tapes just so he could watch several movies in a week.

@teresatrotter By the time we got cable there were more than 13 channels. We couldn’t count it anymore. I think it was in the late 90s

I remember that very well. I just mentioned when I finally got cable, all they offered were 13 channels, and I thought that was the big time. We had NBC, CBS, And ABC...later on came PBS. Due to this... We rarely watched TV as kids. Most things that were on were for adults. We got to watch Rudolph and Frosty at Christmas time. LOL

@toniganzon I got cable in the early 80's when it first came out. 13 channels was the max anyone had.
I didn't know what to do with myself to have that many channels to watch. LOL
In fact... I still had my black and white TV set. That's what I grew up with all my life, until my mama won our first color tv set at a bingo game played at a Catholic church. LOL

I do not know about that but I can remember the first time we got the second TV station it was a blast. From there we now have hundreds of stations. Big difference from the 80s

Isn't it amazing how the simple things in life used to be such an enjoyment. Now... We seem to take things for granted, and not enjoy the little pleasures in life anymore.

I was not sure what's that but then read your reply below. I remember our excitement when we got a cable connection and it really felt like hitting a jackpot

@arunima25 Thanks for the little bit of history about your country. I enjoyed hearing about it.
I had some friends years ago who were from India. They were here in the US earning a living so they could send money back to their families.
Having neighbors as an extended family can be a good and comforting thing; to know people will be there for you when you need them.

@teresatrotter TV came to common households very late in our country. It was in late 80s that middle class got their black and white home TV sets. Sometimes there was one TV set in one neighborhood and people shared it.
Those times neighbours were like extended families and people enjoyed watching the shows together. I remember ours was the third house in neighborhood to get their own set and we felt like privileged ones

This no longer exists. We got this before computers and cable TV existed. The only way we knew what was coming on, was through this TV guide. They basically don't exist anymore.

Sometimes I miss the simple pleasures in life. Life was less hectic and more fun.

It's a TV guide. They didn't put the channels on a line-up up on the screen like they do today. The only way you knew what was on TV, is to look in a weekly guide that you had to purchase; or in a daily newspaper. On Sundays they would do a weekly mini version of what was on. But to get the real details, you had to purchase the guide like you see in the above pic. LOL
