Day 220 Promise 685 James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholds himself, and goes his way, and straightway forgets what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. Many people hear but don’t act on what they heard. They go through the motions without paying attention to what they can accomplish if they put effort into what they heard. James told the people not to just hear the Word and go their way, but to act on what they heard. They were to do. They needed to listen so they would understand God’s Word. He said what they did was the same as looking in the mirror and going their way forgetting what they saw after they turned away. Instead, they needed to do what God’s Word said. Then God would bless them. As Christians, you need to do the same. Stop going to church and only hearing the message and saying how good it was and walk out the door. Listen to the message, hear what God is saying through the minister. Take notes and put into practice what you heard. Do the same with your Bible reading. Stop reading it so you can say you read it in a year but you do not know what you read. Read for understanding. When you do, God will bless you. 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman who needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Stop going through the motions and telling everyone you’re a Christian when you don’t practice Christianity. Be a doer of the Word and not a hearer only. You only deceive yourself when you do. Do you want God’s blessing on your life? Put God’s Word into practice every day. In everything you do, do it to the glory of God and God will bless you. Stop going through the motions. Let’s pray: Father, help me put Your Word into practice every day. I don’t want to go through the motions of life. Let my life bear fruit for You and give You glory in everything I do.
