Break the Chain in More Ways

Break the Chain

We are exhorted to do our part to break the chain in terms of transmission of the all conquering virus. It is for our survival. Hopefully, we succeed soon to put this behind and free ourselves from its clutches. An unseen enemy is tough to slay. And also the opinion that range from it is just a conspiracy to hoodwink the public and an assault on our birthright to all out freedom. Be that as it may, we can extend this term to other issues too to set us truly free and make a new beginning: 1. Break down borders that we have built to divide ourselves into compartments, seeing ourselves as different, as enemies than on a common journey. We can have different views but can agree to disagree so as not to cloud the big picture of unity in diversity – united we stand, divided we fall. 2. Break free from carry forward hurts that weigh us down, and set us perpetually on a revenge mode. 3. Break free from pitting might is right and with weapons to threaten others. Agree to nip the issue in the bud – stop trading weapons for profit. 4. Stop telling how good we are and, more importantly, how bad others are. It is a game where no one wins and the losers are the poor who are caught in between rival camps. We are slaves to brought forward issues kept alive by a few for their selfish interests. Why not “Break All Chains” with an all out effort that sets us free once and for all. This virus then could just be the initial thrust to open our eyes and see the big picture that we are chained by our past and a few who relentlessly keep the tempo of divisiveness. Thank you, we need action to get going and unchain ourselves. Democracy is not just voting or just a walk in the park Majority writ should run to benefit them

@Shiva49 You know you the first person I heard that said that. I guess its the next evolution of a democracy of a country that wants to be free. Here we just say vote but you are right its hard work being free. You need to do many things even before you vote and its getting scary how the fascists are trying to take control. People are going to have to do more than just vote.

@crossbones27 Thanks, I fear for our future when one person could turn the system upside down with supporters cheering him with the refrain "bring them on, more to go, way to go, to hell with others". The enemy of democracy and freedom is within - no unlimited freedom or free for all. It is then mobocracy. I am an outsider but I feel things went overboard in your country in the wink of an eye with self-preservation "trumping" reason and logic.

I think we all have to realize the time has come. Our agenda is not the agenda of even our elected leaders.

I have a feeling that the real virus behind all of this is money. People value it, and want more and more of it, at the expense of others, and they will never get rid of this greed for money, until, until, there is nothing else left. My favourite American Indian quote about this, says it all. Cree Indian Prophecy: "Only when the last tree has been cut down, and used, the last fish has been caught, and eaten, and the last stream, and all rivers, all poisoned, and polluted, will the white-man finally realize that he cannot eat money." By then, it will be too late though. Money is king, and it does not look like it will ever be pushed off of its throne, by love, or by people, seeing past greed, and avarice too, to being united in helping each other. Perhaps we will never see that money is not a metaphor for success. This means that to be successful, all that we ever really need to do is to acknowledge the love that is in ourselves. Obstacles block this love from being seen, but only ever temporarily. The way past an obstacle then is simply to try to again see the love that is behind it still. When we do this, the obstacle again immediately dissolves itself into love again, and this is then seen by ourselves as a new understanding about love, or in other words, as a life lesson now learnt.

@Shiva49 Money is our way of exchanging benefits, or it should be. Nobody should be able to accumulate then, stockpiles of such "benefits", only for themselves. All benefits should be shared benefits, benefiting all, not just benefiting somebody collecting benefits, just for some rainy day, or trying to buy for himself more sunny days too. Real love has no price tag to it, and it always benefits all, in its loving ways, and lovingness too.

Well elucidated Steve, thanks. The whole world revolves around wealth creation. That is at the pinnacle and a badge of honor. I think Australia and NZ are among the few countries where an inclusive approach is practiced and is evident at every level. In most other countries, one is always judged by what one possesses. If I talk about love and fulfillment through a more balanced life, it would be interpreted I am trying to justify my lack of wealth vis-à-vis others. Only a loser will indulge in such talk! I have a friend who cannot stop counting money and he maintains that is the only thing that matters! Soon it is all out greed and into illegal ways to acquire wealth. Take arms and weapons industry. It is outright anathema to love but big powers unashamedly, unabashedly, unconsciously, compete with one another to supply to all and sundry. Yes, it is tough to come out of the vicious cycle of all out greed. We know even now people go to where they can make money with zilch principles and morality. Even communist countries have billionaires multiplying without raising an eyebrow. That shows the hold of money politics and influence ingrained in society. In terms of morality, we are digging deeper at the nadir with each passing day!

@innertalks For a better world and for an inclusive society greed is the enemy number one. I had read about the natural resources of Australia and the take that they belong to all the citizens and not for sale to the highest bidder. They are a gift from our creator and, in fact, they belong to all and to be used (not exploited) judiciously. Now it is winner takes it all in this world - might is right. We know that is just not right.

Yes, who will bell the cat is the big question. We all need to chip away at the fortress of division both outside and inside us.
