Arcade & Treat Day - March 19th

There is a new arcade in town (well the next town over) called Arcadia.
We decided to go this evening and check it out. They were open till 11 PM, so there was no rush in playing quick and getting out.
There are some cool things about the arcade, and other not so cool things.
First, instead of having to get a bunch of quarters to play all the games - they have gone digital. You buy a game card...which never expires, can be re-loaded, etc. Keeps track of how many points you have won/earned...and how much you have spent.
The arcade also has a fro-yo restaurant within it (was supposed to have food too I thought). We got some tonight, which was our first treat, the yogurt that is.
The arcade is two levels - bottom level is vintage arcade games (Mortal Kombat, Mario bros, Pacman, etc). The top level has the more modern games that give rewards (including skee ball, basketball, and a bunch of others). Up on the second level was also the frozen yogurt.
We played a few of the vintage, and a few of the modern games. We still have points left on the card for next time....Only used like 15 or so of the tokens (we got 100 for $20).
The 2nd treat was that we went and got dinner after since we were hungry. We also got a Frazil drink (slushie- kind of drink).
Do you have a big arcade like this in your town? We have a small arcade in the bowling alley, and then in the bigger town an hour away there is one in the mall - but nothing like this!

Oh wow we have lots of arcades here but they haven’t opened since last year because of the pandemic. Arcades attract young people and it’s a crowded place. So our government didn’t allow arcades to open because of the covid. We are being cautious.

That is understandable, but here we aren't as cautious - I don't think any were wearing masks even last night and there were probably over 100 people.

@toniganzon Hate what, people not wearing masks? Well I am tired of the whole mask thing.

We have one very close to my house in a mall. Just 5 minutes away and that too uses the same kind of digital cards, earning points and rewards. We used to go there for bowling earlier and my daughters would play other games.
Not been there since pandemic. The mall is open as we can see while driving through it but not sure if this place is still there.
But it's not as huge as you mentioned. It has a decent space and enough to keep you entertained and there is a food court on same floor to offer you variety of cuisines to choose from.

Sounds like a fun place, especially if it has bowling too. I wish this had bowling where you could use the card to play. THat's great yours has the digital card thing too. Sorry you haven't been there since then. They did a soft opening here at first where they limited the amount of people who could go....but now it is opened fully. Yours sounds nice with the food court though - this one was supposed to have food!

@MommyOfEli2013 The food court is separate but on same floor and just adjacent to it. So it looks like an extension of same. They also have a haunted house and few virtual thrill rides there. That's fun.

@MommyOfEli2013 I'm more into the vintage ones. They're the ones I grew up with.

Well Eli did, at least. I wasn't a big fan of the vintage games...but the more modern ones were good.
And that's okay, no worries.

It is fun for kids...for sure. Arcade games at the county fair? Ours never had them! So that is neat

There was a time when we hit every arcade from Indiana west and Indiana east when we traveled. Now, the twins are more into D&D

@DocAndersen That's what I figured that was. Well that is cool that they are into that. Not sure if my son will ever get into that kind of stuff. That's cool that you hung out at the arcade though! I never really hung out with people LOL

Arcades were a lot of fun, I am guessing - I never went to one as a kid/growing up. D&D? I think I have heard of that

@MommyOfEli2013 Dungeons and Dragons - they are heavily into that now. Yes, we used to go to the arcade in the mall all the time. It was a hangout for the people i hung out with!

Sorry to hear that, well that is if you wish you did lol. The card thing is pretty neat, don't have to worry about getting loads of quarters. Each machine will give you a balance too of the tokens you have, and the tokens you've won.

Arcades used to be a big thing; but now, not so much. There is a large bowling alley at the mall. Maybe they have some machines there.

Oh yeah, I have heard talk of them....especially with the vintage games (which weren't at that time I guess). This place has a whole floor of vintage ones which is pretty cool. A bowling alley at the mall? That's different! But it may....our bowling alley has a restaurant inside, and an arcade lol
