More Neighbour From Hell Bad Behaviour

Preston, England

Tangled with my deranged neighbour again on Monday. His latest outburst was really nasty and dangerous. I was just returning from my latest clinic treatment room visit in the NHS provided taxi. As I put my key in the front door to the building he snapped the door open sharply, snarling at me that while I might think he was watching for the cab arriving (as he has done) he wasn’t this time. He was holding some sort of tool that looked like a cross between a small paint roller and a musical instrument. He obviously wanted me to feel threatened by it. Can’t see any other reason why he conveniently had it with him when opening the door (he supposedly hadn’t been watching for my arrival???) He started cracking it like a hammer against the wall and his own front door, telling me I had no right to criticise him. He seems to have picked up on some of my online reactions to his behaviour though he is never named in any of it and blocked on several of my pages online. I tried speaking to ask what he meant, and he responded with loud gorilla like growling. I asked him if he was trying to amuse me or intimidate me and assured him that he was failing either way. He yelled that he had a lot to say and denied me any right to interrupt. He did the loud roaring a few more times. I told him he was being pathetic. He ranted that as he had brought my post to me in hospital (after I specifically asked him to leave it at the flat as it wasn’t likely to be urgent), I should let him do what he wants. I pointed out that he had no Covid mask on, (I had mine on) and simply walked round him and up to my flat. He started following me until I pointed out that I’d get the police if he carries on with this attitude. I locked my door and he stomped off back downstairs. Ordered a recording devise to capture any future such attempts to bully me on a devise to report him to the authorities. Arthur Chappell

He sounds quite dangerous. I would start recording his behavior. I'm fact I would seek advice from the police now. I'm these cases, I think it is probably better to over react than under react..and above all start away from him.

@snowy22315 not easy to avoid as he owns the flat right by the only entrance / exit to the building

@arthurchappell Maybe you are going to have to think about moving. Could you live with your mother temporarily? Some of these neighbor disputes can end very badly. I don't envy your situation.

Good idea to recorder this man, he is becoming dangerous and you must be prepared to go to the police and sue him if necessary. He is already stalking you, this is a crime.

@arthurchappell Those people are often frustrated individuals with no friends who feel important intimidating the others. Let him know that if he should menace you again you will report him to the police.

Wow! You are definitely between a rock and a hard place. He's not going to move; and you shouldn't be forced to move. I don't know what the solution is.

That sounds like a very rude and intimidating behaviour. I would be scared and stay alert. Good that you plan to record these incidents and seek police help. It's better to stay prepared for our own safety. He can not be undermined. Is he the same to others in neighborhood or he has specially picked on you,? Stay alert.

@arunima25 he has gone very quiet - I now lock my mailbox and I have a new doorbell - mine wasn't working so visitors assumed I was out unless he let them in and now he ignores them but I can contact them more directly

@arthurchappell Oh! That sounds even scarier. Had there been other people too, you could have some support to go against him. What's the latest updates??

It sounds like he may have a few problems of his own, is he like this with everybody or just you for some reason?
