Dunkin fired this guy for giving still edible donuts to a homeless guy

Dunkin donuts throws away donuts that are not sold within 5 hours. These donuts are still edible and still good to eat but yeah it is policy to waste these food if they are not sold within a certain time limit. An employee feel so bad throwing away still good donuts so he gave them to a homeless guy. Dunkin finds out what he did so they fired him. I wish he never uploaded it in tiktok and just gave away those donuts to homeless people secretly.
Video of a Dunkin’ Donuts employee donating the donuts to homeless people, instead of throwing them away. Because of this, the employee was fired!!

In my country, it is against the law to give (or take to an employee´s house) food that has not been eaten. I imagine that it is done secretly to some extent.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I think what should be done is to change laws and check hygiene.

His mistake is uploading it to tiktok but he did it to spread awareness that fast foods waste a lot of food while millions of people die of starvation.

Food safety requires stores to rotate their stock to ensure stale food doesn't get sold. I commend the guy for wanting to help the homeless, and it's sad he got found out. He shouldn't have lost his job for it, but I can understand why. It's wasteful sure, to have to throw out food, but policies exist for a reason. All it takes is one bad doughnet in the bunch (and you can't always tell by looking) to rouine a brand. If a store wants to donate food, they can, but there's a right and wrong way to do it.

I know it is a food safety policy but it is also a marketing policy because people will stop buying if they can just ask for the stale ones for free.

Saw an IG story about employees getting fired by Dunkin Donuts because they give away their donuts, coffee, and iced tea to shelters and community kitchens. Such a waste.

@CaptAlbertWhisker shouldn't be the case. Hard to think that hunger and food wastage are problems in the world today. One basically solves the other.

All restaurants do that too. Basically many of the food businesses are responsible for wasting food

their excuse is to prevent food poisoning. Sweets and breads usually expire after 3 days. So these donuts are fresh

There is something so wrong with that. All businesses that sell food should give their older not sold food to hungry people.

Their excuse is food safety that it could be expired.... But with all the sugars from those donuts, they can last for three days.

This is disgusting but clearly proves something that is sadly true "never good action remains unpunished". They should give away the donuts, wasting food is a shame! I would boycott their stores.

All fast foods around the world, They should only cook when there are orders but that is not how donut shops operate. I know some bakeries in france recycle stale bread into pudding.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I fully agree with you. Stale bread is never thrown in France and Italy, they make bread pudding or breadcrumbs that they sell.
