Hi all! Happy Day Dreaming Thursday! Just popping in the treadmill for an hour and though I’d see if anyone has any experience in the Florida Keys.
Me and a good friend are heading down there and my only plan so far is to check out the Everglades National Park, do some driving and short hikes, hopefully see some gators, and hopefully take a fan boat ride or some other swamp adventure.
After that, we will head down to the Keys be be staying in Key Largo, and then Key West. Only for about 4-5 days total. It is to commemorate her dad who passed away last year, and he spent a lot of time in the Keys and was always talking about it.
Things I am considering:
*Dry Tortugas National Park (it’s an island, cheapest way to get there is a $190 ferry, so I doubt my friend will want to go)
*Ernest Hemingway house and museum
*Southern Most Point (just seems like a cool landmark)
I haven’t done a whole lot of research yet. Praying the weather cooperates as it is in September, which I know is in hurricane season.
Have you been to the Florida keys? What would be your suggestions?

I have been there...I think it is worth it to get on that train that goes around the town.It stops at all the highlights. I think it's called the conch train.

I agree! You can get anywhere from a short ride to the exclusive where you can get off (say, at the Hemingway house), then catch the next trolly as it comes by. I took a shorter one, and I loved it.

@FourWalls Cool! So it sounds like you buy a ticket and you can ride any trolleys that come by for X amount of time?

I haven't been but Mike went a long time ago and enjoyed it very much. He was into scuba diving so that is what he did and some hiking. When he scuba dived he caught his own lobster for dinner and loved it. I hope you and your friend have a great time when you go.
