Depression

April 3, 2021 11:42pm CST
Let's talk about how common this one word is getting into all of our lives. It's used to easily. "my favorite team lost I'm depressed", "I didn't score well in my exams I'm depressed". Are we all really failing to describe what depression really is. Speaking with personal experience I'd say depression is not as easy as the word in itself that's used today. I have been diagnosed with anxiety and depression. I struggled really hard before my parents finally decided that therapy is something that exists and can help. Unfortunately I had to discontinue with all the medication and now I'm on nothing. I also dropped out of college because I just couldn't study with a constant marathon of thoughts running in my mind. Being locked up in the room for hours, not wanting to groom yourself even the basics like brushing your teeth in the morning, feeling like a burden. It was hard, it is hard. So if anyone out there who is relating to this I understand you, I know what you're going through, I know it feels like what's the point of living? But there is a point. It's hard for a person to take his own life because we've been given these lives with a purpose. I'm on my way to finding my purpose

I understand. I have experienced it. Just keep that Positive thought in your mind in tact. There is nothing more important in life than our own life. Take care dear

Yes, the struggle is real. However, just because anxiety and depression is often used losely (we all suffer from both on some level), no one is trying to discount you, or anyone with an offical diagnosis. There's healthy anxiety and depression and unhealthy anxiety and depression.

But it gets you desperate enough to find an addiction. Eventually self harm becomes that addiction.

Sorry to hear that you have been suffering from depression. At least you are starting to talk about your feelings and that is always a good thing. Other people will not understand how bad you feel unless they have experienced this for themselves.

Don't be so upset with your life. Find ways to keep yourself positive and happy. Don't stay alone find some good friends who can make you feel better. Life is to live not to waste by thinking such negative thoughts.

@Trishhh You will never get out of your situation if you will not help yourself. Your life is a gift that you should enjoy while you still have it. Pull out a paper then write your vision for yourself. When you want or aspire for something go for it. Life is a race, win or lose you must accept it. Good you stopped taking your medication because you will be used to it, you will be dependent on it and so you will lose your own self confidence. Go out of your room, do your chores. Even a small accomplishment inside the house makes a big difference. Do gardening, cooking or whatever hobby that you can focus yourself. Look around you, there are those with much more miserable situation in life.

People who have depression often get 'lost' in their own thoughts and worries. Therefore, you must stay connected with the people around you. Overcoming depression will be easier if we get support from people who love and care for you, says the Help Guide page. Meanwhile, if you are alone, it will be difficult to maintain common sense and keep negative thoughts away. Most people who are depressed will withdraw from social situations, making it difficult for others who want to help them. Find someone you can trust to help you get out of depression!
