April Fools Songs Top 15: Certain Kind of Fool (#13)

Say what? Two of my favorite bands didn’t even make the top 10 in this list of songs with “fool” in the title? Yeah. It’s a jam-packed countdown, that’s for certain! Speaking of “certain,” these guys were certain to show up....and here they are! #13 Certain Kind of Fool - Eagles But of course! Randy Meisner’s sole contribution in terms of lead vocals to the Eagles’ masterpiece Desperado album, it’s one of the centrally important songs on the album. More than any other song, this one equates the outlaws (“a poster on a storefront, a picture of a wanted man”) with the musicians (since he never identifies the “it” in the verse about “he saw it in a window, the mark of a new kind of man,” it can be as easily interpreted to be a gun as it is a guitar). As you probably know, Desperado is my favorite Eagles album, and one of my favorite albums of the 1970s, period. Is it any wonder why.
