A string

The neighbor girls liked to come over to play with Charlie and baby Adso all the time. One day they brought a green string over to use with Adso. He didn't really care about it and just left it on the floor. Charlie the Cat though went nuts for it. He has so many toys that he ignores but a green string gets him going nuts. He picks it up, plays with it, jumps up on the couch to wrestle with it, etc. I find it all over the apartment--in the bedroom, in the bathroom, in the front room, etc. It makes him crazy. He is currently walking around with the string wrapped around him. Who needs fancy toys when you can just give your cat a string?

We had a house cat when I was growing up that loved string also. My Dad tied a string to an armchair in the family room with a knot on the end of it. Snookie would lie beside the chair on her back and play with that often. I'm glad that Charlie is having fun with his green string.

I guess cats are just like little kids. My dad used to laugh and tell my brother and I that they would spend lots of money on Christmas presents, and then on Christmas morning we would open the presents, throw the toys aside, and then play with the boxes! Who knew I could be so easily entertained as a kid! lol

@NJChicaa Most definitely. I miss having cats. If I was home more often, I would get some kittens. But I'm out and about so much that I'm hardly ever home. That would make it hard to take care of them.

Even crumpled piece of paper would be enough for my cats. The kittens have the tendency to go out and come back with chicken's feather lately. I don't know how they get it. I hope they didn't pluck it from the chicken.

LOL, i know! People have sent my kitty Gretchen so many toys! But what she likes is ribbons. She pays no attention to most of her toys and does not respond at all to catnip. She does like the tinsel balls sometimes, but mostly it's the ribbons. Similar to what your cat does with the string.

@NJChicaa When I was a teen, my family had a cat who went wild whenever I sprayed this decongestant stuff on my handkerchief. I used it when I had a cold. I mean this cat would sniff this and go absolutely bonkers. Now I know that stuff was probably actually toxic to cats. We had a couple other cats and they wouldn't come near when I was using it. But this particular cat came and sniffed it on purpose and seemed to get high.

That's like the kids playing with the box the toy came in.
