Could it be? Is it possible? We might get to putt tonight!!!! The weather looks good for the opening of the 2021 Putt Putt local season. I’ll be there, losing my entry fee! Speaking of fooling around, here’s the song that takes us into the top ten of favorites of mine with “fool” in the title. No country music warning today, aren’t you glad. #10: Fool Too Long - Rockpile Dave Edmunds and Nick Lowe have been friends for eons. Lowe let Edmunds record “I Knew the Bride (When She Used to Rock and Roll)” years before Lowe did. (There’s an almost generational shift in a one-word change in the lyrics of the two versions: Edmunds sang, “I can see her now with her headphones on.” When Lowe did his own song in the late 80s, he changed that to “I can see her now with her Walkman on.” I guess it’d be “AirPods” now. ) While they played on each other’s albums and toured together and all that good stuff, 1980’s Seconds of Pleasure was the only time they set out to do a proper album together. However, as they were on different record labels (Lowe on Columbia and Edmunds on Swan Song), there would be label arguments over who’d get to release an Edmunds/Lowe duet album. So they just named the project “Rockpile” and went on with things. There are these one-off projects put together that sometimes don’t live up to what they should have been, given the talent involved (I think that about another project Nick Lowe was involved in: Little Village, which also featured John Hiatt...okay, but nowhere NEAR what it should’ve been, given the star power in the band). Rockpile’s one and only album (given that Edmunds, now 76, has retired from music) does NOT have that problem. It lives up to the hype, and then some. Fool Too Long Written by Nick Lowe and Rockpile Recorded by Rockpile From Seconds of Pleasure, 1980 I had you figured out all wrong:

Funny isn't it, the way we can watch movies/series these days (or listening to the lyrics), and figure out what era or year it was from. I was watching some slightly old movies the other day, seeing some old cell phones being used and couldn't stop myself feeling amused a bit. (or watching movies about time travelling into the past, yet the time traveller still used similar model of phones as the people from the decade before!!!)
