In 1970 the US Top 5 singles chart included No.5, 'Bridge Over Trouble Water' by Simon and Garfunkel, No.4, 'Spirit In The Sky', Norman Greenbaum', No.3, 'Instant Karma!' by John Lennon, No.2, 'ABC' The Jackson 5 and at No.1, 'Let It Be', The Beatles.
In 1978 The Police released their frist single from their debut album Outlandos d'Amor "Roxanne" The song was written from the view of a man having fallen in love with a prostitute. The title of the song was taken from the character of the play "Cyrano de Bergerac"
In 2002 Gareth Gates was at number one on the UK singles chart with his version of "Unchained Melody"
