A dumpster dog that is now part of the Wichita Police Department

Normally when the police have dogs inside of their police officer roster, the first thought that comes to mind is a German Shepherd or a Labrador Retriever. However a small mixed breed terrier mix female dog named Nora who is being called "Dumpster dog" after a concerned female citizen brought in Nora to the police station after she heard Nora barking for help while the three or four month old dog had been placed in a dumpster by someone who has no concern for the welfare of an animal. Wichita Police Chief Kevin Kochenderfer saw the puppy, he decided after one month that Nora would live in his home on a permanent basis as well as join the police force as a dog that would assist children who are going through scary incidents. I like to share these good news stories about lost pets who find work with either the police department or the fire department after they were found in abandoned buildings or in dumpsters.
