Day 244 Promise 711 1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. Many people are under the assumption they don’t sin. Their lives are good and worthy of the accolades they achieved. John said we deceive ourselves when we believe we don’t sin. We also make God out to be a liar and His Word isn’t in us. However, when we confess our sins, God is faithful to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. As Christians, knowing God forgives our sin brings peace and humbleness to our minds and hearts. Paul told the people everyone sins. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (KJV) Paul also said no one was righteous. Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: (KJV) David said the same thing. Psalm 14:2 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any who did understand, and seek God. 3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that does good, no, not one. It’s easy to deceive ourselves into complacency and believe everything is right with our world and we’re perfect in every way. However, the truth is, we’re sinners, worthy of separation from God. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (KJV) Paul gave us peace of mind when He pointed out Jesus died for our sin to bring us close to the Father. Romans 5:8 But God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Since Jesus died for us, shouldn’t we be quick to ask forgiveness when we sin? John said all we need to do is confess our sins and God’s faithfulness would wipe away all our sin, forgiving every wrong we ever did. God’s faithfulness to us brings peace of mind and joy to our spirit. Have you asked God to forgive your sins? Let’s pray: Father, I know I’m a sinner. I know I don’t deserve to be with You in heaven. Thank you for making me worthy of salvation through the death and resurrection of Your Son, Jesus, on Calvary’s cross and taking my sin away with His blood. Help me see my sin, and confess it, knowing You will forgive me and bring me into a right relationship with You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Sin separates us from God. God and sin cannot be together. I am thankful everyday that God is faithful.
