Wonderful World - Andre Rieu

So tonight's concert of Andre Rieu was called Wonderful World and it went on from 10:00pm til midnight and I stopped up to watch it all. It was wonderful, just as the name suggests! My favourite soprano, Mirusia was there singing Wishing you were somehow here again from Phantom of the Opera. She was fantastic. There was another couple of sopranos singing too. One song Andre said was about a beautiful girl who had one problem. Two men were loving her. (That's how he said it!) One was a rich Prince and the other was a poor violinist! Then Andre said, guess which one she went for? Yes, just like my wife, she went for the poor violinist! (Except he's not so poor anymore!) One of the sopranos, Carmen, sang a song from Madame Butterfly. It was very beautiful. The Platin Tenors were there singing their lungs out too. My Mum has a favourite tenor called Thomas from Germany who had a cute jolly round face but he's left the Platin Tenors now and tonight's concert had a different tenor called Eric who is a Frenchman. But I think even he's actually left too now, because on the Andre Rieu 2021 calendar that I got my Mum for Christmas there's a different tenor altogether who's much chubbier and doesn't seem to have much hair. (And no, it's not the guy from the Go Compare ads!) They also had George on playing The Lonely Shepherd on his panpipes. They had a group of people from Romania who came on and joined him. They had a song that's like a Spanish bull fight song. Sorry I can't remember the name of it. Andre asked the audience if they were scared of bulls. Then he said don't worry it's OK nothing will happen if you are not wearing red. And ofcause there are always people in the audience who are wearing red! Andre said to this one guy who was wearing red You'd better take that off sir! And there's always this one lady who is a plant. Everything she's wearing is red! Her coat, her dress - even her bra! (She just flashed a bit of bra strap to show us that that was red too!) Then when Andre plays the tune in comes this pantomime bull! He makes his way from the back of the audience right down to the front as the tune is playing, then when he's right in front of the stage he turns round and clocks this woman in red and she gets up and starts running down the aisle to the back of the audience with this pantomime bull chasing after her! Then a picture comes up on the screen behind Andre of the woman still being chased by the bull! Near the end of the tune the bull comes back up the aisle but this time he has a red bra hanging from one of his horns! Andre nearly always plays The Beautiful Blue Danube and a lot of people in the audience will start to get up and waltz to the music. This happened tonight aswell. Near the end of the concert they played the title track, Wonderful World. And nearly always at Andre's Concerts near the end he plays the Maastricht Anthem / Maastricht, City of Jolly Singers / Adieu, Little Captain of my Heart and Marina, and when he starts playing these tunes you know the concert is nearly ending! This concert was Wonderful, just like the title and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope you've all had a nice day. Have a great night.

I have seen that episode with the pantomine bull. It's very cleverly done. There are some talented people on that show.

Oh, I totally agree. You know, my Mum says sometimes she listens to other orchestras and they are not as good as the Johann Strauss orchestra. Screechy violins, people not in sync. Not with JSO! Andre always chooses the best musicians who can really play their instruments and Andre himself is fantastic on his violin. Not screechy or anything like that. Just lovely. He's been playing the violin since he was 5.

I adore Andre Rieu. He is insanely talented and I know I don't know him, but he seems like a nice person. It sounds like a beauty of a concert.

You have good taste. He is wonderful, isn't he? He's the nicest guy on the planet, I'm quite sure of it! It was a magnificent concert. (I'm trying to think of more words to describe how great Andre Rieu is!)
