I’m sure a lot of people in the US have heard that Brooklyn Center, a north suburb of Minneapolis, have killed a twenty year old black male during a traffic stop this past weekend. Details are still unfolding but what we know so far is that the male had a warrant, was possibly pulled over for having an air freshener (!) in his mirror, and the 26 year veteran BCPD cop says she meant to TASE the male, grab her TASER, not shoot him. Umm... wow.
The world is in a crazy place right now. Especially with the Former MPD officer Chauvin on trial, a very public trial, for killing George Floyd in MPLS last May, which was followed by protests. All over. Which then turned violent-looting-arson. A large chunk of Minneapolis was set ablaze by extreme rioters. It was a very scary time.
National Guard is swooping in. Some stores are starting to board up their windows. The governor put a 7pm curfew last night and probably will do something similar tonight. Probably thinking to avoid the violent protests.
A rumor was put on social media that the radical LEFT and RIGHT groups may be coming in to town to stir crap up and maybe incite riots.
And, this 20 year old who has a little baby is dead. Very very sad, regardless of not having all the facts.
So, please keep us Minneapolis-ins in your thoughts as we see what unfolds in the next couple days... Stay safe everyone.

Dumb, idiot cops..and what the heck they were going to taze him for a misdemeanor. Is that necessary even? The guy here in VA got pepper sprayed for having tinted windows and supposedly the wrong license tag although it was visible in the window. I don't get these police that immediately want to over react to black suspects..Something is really wrong with their training.

Indeed! At least pepper spray is not lethal (or at least I don’t think so?). But that’s right. Why? A gross misdemeanor could be a theft or something stupid like that. She continues to claim she thought she was grabbing her taser, which might be true. Who knows. But the community is hurting. And it keeps happening. Here!

I agree. I want to move. Canada? The UK? Honestly, since I have been old enough to remember, people have never been so tense and divided as they are now, at least here. Collectively. Like between pro-Trump, anti-Trump, ANTIFA, riots, COVID-believers, COVID-non believers, vaccers and anti-vaccers, BLM and “Blue Lives Matter”... I could go on. It’s crazy!!!
Crime has increased dramatically in Minneapolis, not sure about St Paul. I am a city gal but I have never wanted so much to move to an island as I do these days.

@maezee I still have in my mind certain places in Minneapolis. I think it was Holy Rosary Catholic church that we went to and its school. Saint Paul and its cathedral. White Castle burgers eaten with my Mom. There used to be Washington high school over there. It's long gone. I think Saint Bernards is still there. My husband has talked about moving to British Columbia, Canada. We are not millionaires so that is just a dream. You take care.
