What happened to your puppies?

My dog was supposed to give birth last week. I think she did but her babies were nowhere to be found, she might had miscarriage. But the pups where nowhere to be found after looking for them for hours. Rats could have taken and eat them in my suspicion.
My brother was lucky though, both of his dogs gave birth.
Have a nice day

Lucky to have two sets of puppies, that won't be well cared for? Animal abuse is a crime.

She was not abused @kobesbuddy but maybe I should have caged her days before her birth. Seriously, i have no clue were the babies are

No they wouldn't @much2say I do now think rats may have taken them. I have notice bigger rats in our back yard. She seems to be fine by my observation.

You know there's a way to check if she's given birth or not. When you touch the area where the puppies should be, you'd feel movment. Baring that, if she's lost that pregnancy weight, then she's likely given birth.

Why would a soon to give birth dog just be out running around? Pets must be properly cared for. Maybe I am misunderstanding the post? The idea of rats eating live puppies hurts my heart.

Hello @MarieCoyle My mistake this time was I didn't put her in the cage and we already prepared a bed shelter for her and the puppies. And yet the puppies were not around and she was leaking milk. For sure something must have happened after she gave birth, and were probably asleep when this happened.
