Garden planted

Well, the garden didn't plant anything, we planted the garden.
The potatoes were the first a few weeks ago and they already have little green leaves coming up.
Last week we planted okra, tomatoes, squash, cantaloupe, cucumbers, and a couple of hot pepper plants for me.
Our cat Gracie stayed nearby to supervise. She naps a lot these days..she's about 11 or 12 so that's around mid 70's in human years...I know how she feels, lol.
We had planned to plant the veggies on Friday, but rain was coming in so we got everything in the ground just before we heard thunder.
Can hardly wait for a BLT with fresh tomatoes and some fried okra. Yummm.
Do you have a garden? I know many of you do. If you do, what do you usually plant?

I don't have a garden but I'm hoping that maybe this year I can plant in pots on my deck

That would be a lot easier and you'd get some fresh veggies.

I would love to plant a garden, but my house and property is heavily shaded by grand oak trees, maples and pine trees. Very little sunlight reaches the ground, so it would be very difficult for me to plant a successful garden on my property.
I hope your garden is very successful and thrives and produces lots of vegetables, herbs and spices for you to use in your cooking. I remember growing up my parents had a garden, and we always had fresh sources of food right from that garden.

Your place sounds lovely. Our garden is fairly small, but you're right, there's nothing like fresh veggies. Is there a farmer's market anywhere near you? Are you recovering well from being sick again?

@1creekgirl I am fortunate enough to have three farmers markets within a very short driving distance. I frequent all three all the time, so I do get my fair share of fresh garden veggies.
Yes, I am not about 99% recovered from Covid. Even got most of my taste back now. I've started a heavy exercise regimen this past weekend, and am now back to physical training with my pro paintball team. We have a big tournament coming up in 2 weeks, and I plan to be ready for it!

@moffittjc So glad to hear you survived, first of all and that you're improving. Best wishes for your competition!

I'm glad now we didn't plant when we wanted too. We have had so much rain and more to come, that the garden would probably be flooded.
I have tomato plants waiting to in the ground. I hope this all clears up soon so we can get going on the garden before it is too late. We will be planting tomatoes, bell peppers, banana peppers and probably cucumbers and squash.

No I don’t these days. It is just easy to go to the farm stand and buy what I want.

That day's coming for us, too. That's why our garden gets smaller every year!

Is there a farmer's local market you can buy fresh veggies from?

How exciting. I love fresh veggies and fruit. We don't plant a garden. Too old for all that work.
