Jack Jackson, was a counsellor, who worked for a phone-help service, called "problemlike". The idea of the phone-in was to try to get people to "like" their problems. If we like ourselves, even with our problems, we can start to see them in a new light. Jack was the founder of this service, and he used to say that once we hold our problems up to the light of God, or of love, or even to just another person, it allows us to see the holes in ourselves, in a whole new light. Talking to Jack, his callers are usually heart-wrenchingly honest, about themselves. They are really wanting to be helped. Then, one day, late at night, 10 pm, actually, a caller called in, and he said that his name was, "God." "I have this problem," he said to Jack. "A few thousand years ago, I sent my son down there, and they killed him off. I have been thinking of sending now, my daughter. Do you think that she would be safe, or would they kill her off too?" Jack thought to himself that this must be some type of a nutter, so he replied: "Well, we have not changed much since then, so, I am sure that we would probably do the same to her too." "Good," said God. "That's exactly what I thought too." "I will send her soon then." God hung up the phone, but then he rang back again, hoping to get another operator, but he got Jack again. Jack, said, knowing his voice already, "So, it's you again, God." This time the voice, simply said, "Well, it's about time that somebody knows my voice. I have been speaking to people for years, and nobody else has ever recognised it." Jack said, "Well, it is a distinctively deep sonorous voice." God said, "Yes, this was a test for you. When my daughter arrives, I want her to be raised by you as an adopted daughter. She will arrive soon, as this time I am taking the short route, and sending her as already an adult person." "You will recognise her, when she says the name, June to you, June Godson, is her name." And, God hang off the phone. Jack took not too much notice of the call, but he was surprised when a week later, he had a knock on the studio door, where he was working from, and a young pretty girl, of about 25, said to him that she was June Godson. He took her in, and he made her a cup of tea, and he asked he how was the trip, and how is the old boy. "I will keep you under my wing, and you will do better than which your brother did ,those thousands of years ago," he told her, reassuringly. Just, one week later, though, a body was found on a remote beach in the area. She, as it was a young girl, of only around 25 years of age, had been raped, and brutally murdered, by a gang of local youths, all high on the drug, ice. Jack had been again working at the studio. He had left June in his house, but she, feeling like a walk, along the nearby beach, had been summarily attacked, and killed there. Jack did not know, until he got another call from God that night too. God said to Jack. "It is worse now than then." and he rang off. Jack later discovered June missing from his house, and in the morning, a passing jogger found the body on the beach, and Jack went forwards, and identified it as being June. God now had had both of his cheeks slapped by mankind. What will he do next? God only knows! There are those who give their essence to helping others. selflessly they dig and build for others. They, gain from this with a feeling of value. interesting story pal!

Thanks, Scott. Yes, they feel better in themselves, when they are helping others. Helping others does allow us to feel valued. You are right there, l think too.

@DocAndersen I have never been a teacher or a parent, so I do not know that feeling too much, and yet when I was able to show my wife how to do simple percentage markups, or markdowns to prices, she was pleased that she had learnt how to do that too. She then knew how to work out the new price of an item with a 20 % discount etc. etc.

@innertalks True. Without God's grace, we're all lost.

Well, there was one, of course, God's son, was always righteous, but there are no others. The rest all need the grace of God to be righteous.

@just4him Yes, in the end, everything is up to God, to make a decision on. He is the final judge of all. Until then, we should accept his grace in our lives.

Life is tragic for those who are with God it seems.

Yes, apparently God tests his own more thoroughly, or allows them to be so tested, by things happening to them in their lives.

This story is so meaningful Steve. Have we progressed or regressed over thousands of years? There is a knowledge explosion but as human beings we are out of control, worse off. God has given us many lives but we grab a yard when given an inch. He has left us to our own devices for now. Let us be grateful for a change and hear God's voice and feel his presence in our daily lives.

Thanks, siva. We need to hear God's voice in many ways, and to recognise it speaking to us from our neighbour, our pets, and even from the trees around us, whispering his voice to us too.

@Shiva49 Yes, nor does a tree eat other smaller trees for its breakfast either. It shelters all within it, and under it too. We could learn a lot from a tree. Its roots stay in the ground while it reaches up to heaven.

@innertalks A shift in our consciousness away from selfish pursuits will transform our lives and reality. We have to recognize - where there is ego, greed, there is no God, love. Other species, nature, trees, show us the way. A tree does not eat its own fruit.
