Sing It, Mr. Fogerty!

Well, take me back down to where the cool water flows (John Fogerty, “Green River” by CCR) I went to visit the Green River today in Mammoth Cave National Park. In fact, I had a lovely two-hour nap by the Green River. Spring is so lovely here, with the dogwoods in bloom and the multiple shades of green all over...so why not go to the Green River? A musical aside: CCR’s song “Green River” is NOT about the Green River. It was Putah Creek near where writer John Fogerty grew up in California. But that doesn’t matter to anyone here in Kentucky, visiting the beautiful river that runs through the state and the national park! After my nap and a quick stroll along the river I drove to the visitor’s center, where I enjoyed a slower walk along the Heritage Trail. It’s a half-mile handicapped accessible path that leads to a place called Sunset Point. That’s where the top photo above was taken. You can see the lovely shades of green.
