As if the few days daily average of 200K plus all across India was not enough,
we now have crisis in the Indian Capital Delhi.
Last 24 Hours cases are 25,500.
Positivity rate - that is actual positive reports per tested people is 30% that means 1 out of every 3 tested is positive.
As per state government, the number of spare ICU beds is just 100.
Railway Stations have been asked to prepare makeshift ICUs in Railway coaches.
Weekend lockdowns have been imposed, but situation is very alarming.
I do not have much to say, but well, it is we, the people who have got ourselves into this situation.
Praying to God as of now.

It's very sad development. Here in my country our local governments cannot right away declare total lock downs because of our economy. So many people will die of hunger if lock downs are imposed.

The Livelihoods vs Lockdown dilemma is prevalent here as well. However, we now have weekend lockdowns plus night curfews.
Even on weekdays, a lot of restrictions are in place for non-essential services.

It is now more than minimum. People were told be careful earlier as well but looks like many did not paid enough attention.

Let us hope that people understand it now.
Plus I feel that we must reduce the destruction of forests, natural habitats.
Such destruction has been one of the contributing factor behind viruses during the last 20 odd years.

We do not get everything online. Like some foods we need during fasting.

None of us did think that the situation could be as dire as it is now. After all, we sailed through a year watching the West succumb to the disease.
Did we get complacent? I think we did in our country. Plus the fact that many travelers have probably brought the variants.
You are correct. I also couldn't say anything any longer. Just pray.

Plus here people flocked to big social gatherings, events, election rallies and many stopped wearing masks altogether.
Results are disastrous.

Even after so many news, lockdowns, announcements over loudspeakers and waves of high numbers I had seen that many of the labor force and other folks seemed to be aware of Covid.
Yet many of them as well as the so called more well off middle and upper classes let their guard down.
So yes, they are to be blamed.
I agree that Government should not have allowed a gathering of more than 50 unless Covid cases should have been almost nil.

Yes many do not survive for long after their loved ones' demise.
Some others have nervous breakdowns or depression.

Many people are paying the price of becoming careless. Plus many of them spread it (unintentionally)to those who came in contact with them.

I'm not sure if it was the people who got themselves in this situation.
I think that the Prime Minister was culpable when putting the economy before health when relaxing restrictions too quickly after the first wave
And then failing the nation again by not ensuring India was prepared for the second wave.
But he was damned if he did, and damned if he didn't.
A perilous balancing act, almost impossible to get right in a country so vast with a huge population like India.

Managing things in a big nation with the second largest population is never easy.
Governments faulted in allowing social gatherings beyond 50.
Plus big religious gatherings and election rallies.
And most of all, people started taking things for granted even when we still had a few states with high Covid cases.

Even with the increased speed, may be by early next year. But well this is just a guess as sometimes ground situation can change rapidly.

So far 12 Crores (That is 120 Million) have been covered. This number is not a high one % wise in terms of Indian population but one of the fastest in the world, and that too with two vaccines.
As per the reports, if these 3 : J & J, Novavax(in collab with Serum Institute of India) and Russian Sputnik start rolling out and have good supplies by Sep-Oct 2021, the pace would quicken.
Then we have a probable nasal vaccine under trials by Bharat Biotech- an Indian company which is also providing Covaxin in India (and some other countries)currently.
I am not too hopeful about Pfizer which is stated to be held in some approval issues.
I wonder if it is approval or some kickback issue or is Pfizer not cooperating with Indian approvers?
Well Only God knows.

The only fear is that when things open up, some people become careless or tired of following precautions and then it worsens again.

If one follows protocol the disease could be contained but who is listening See how our politicians behave. Kumbh Mela spread it far and wide as people from all over the country attended that Mela.

Political parties too cannot absolve themselves of the blame. Why did they encourage crowded rallies?

As per the news reports, it is the fourth or fifth one in some cities.
Today, a 6 day full lockdown has been imposed in Delhi.

As of now being indoors even if it causes a bit of frustration is the best safety measure.

India now produces a lot of PPE kits, Sanitizers.
Even ICU beds capacities, ventilators were increased.
Yet the Indian population is so huge.
Huge political rallies for elections should have been discouraged as well as big social gatherings.

Yes I have postponed some of my planned things as that would have meant going to some offices and markets and the cases are coming from everywhere.
