Two countdowns to celebrate turning 22! (For the 39th time ) Along with ten songs with “age” in the title I’m counting down ten favorites that have “old” in the title, to celebrate “old age.” Age is mind over matter: if you don’t mind, it don’t matter, and I don’t. But this song does matter to me a lot! #7: Old Tennessee - Dan Fogelberg If you’ve ever heard people (like me) badmouth Dan Fogelberg’s super-big hit “Longer” as being smarmy, it’s because of songs like this. That poor guy struggled in “cult status” like a blue billion other great singer/songwriters, then gets popular with one of his worst songs. And, although this was one of his most popular songs among his fans, you’ve never heard of it because it was BL (Before “Longer”). Sometimes the music business just isn’t fair. Oh, I mentioned that there was a connection between this song and today’s “age” song by Joe Walsh. Walsh produced Fogelberg’s great Souvenirs album, the album that preceded this one.
