Sending some clutter to a friend

In the course of decluttering prior to moving house, I came across a collection of letters from a group of school-children from Bremer Bay in Western Australia’s south-east, While we were living in Ravensthorpe, Vince, myself and a friend had taken a number of musical instruments to their school some miles away. At the time, there was a government scheme to have anyone with a few specialised skills visit isolated children to give them ‘exposure’ to stuff they may not see too often.
Between us, we had a violin, piano accordion, trumpet, trombone, saxophone, guitar, bass guitar, and mouth organ. With practice, we’d been able to knock out a tune on all of these; enough to wow the kids I guess. After demonstrating each instrument and having them sing along with a couple of well-known tunes, the children were encouraged to try out the various instruments.
A few days after we got home, we received a bundle of letters from the children. You can see one of them in the photo. We are still in touch with the person who went with us and exchange Christmas cards. I am going to send the letters to him now and they can clutter up his house. lol

@Judyev That was lovely. You've also started me wondering about on whome I can dump some of my clutter as moving day draws near for us. Today I took six big bags to a Salvation Army bin at our supermarket. All the Charity Shops are still closed, but these bins mean that clothes etc can still be donated without anyone having to contact with anyone else.

It would be difficult getting rid of items during COVID. We've done really well but the hunt for 'junk' continues. The LPs are proving difficult.

What a kind experience, they must have enjoyed it. Many don't have enough to get musical instruments, so it must have been a very enjoyable treat for them.

@oahuwriter It would be nice to think a few went on to make music.

Indeed. Many who can't afford it, but like it, need this compassionate deed.

getting rid of clutter is a project we undertake every year. Sadly most of our clutter is very friendly and between decluttering, our friendly clutther invites friends to come to stay!

What is called clutter still has some value unfortunately and so it remains a clutter till the end of time.

The person wrote a graceful hand ! For the children,it was a real eye-opener at the time. Some of them must have become music lovers from then on.

That's quite a repertoire of musical skills. I'm sure the letters will be appreciated.

That is awesome you shared your love of music with kids who may not have been able to enjoy the experience of playing an instrument. It is wonderful that the kids appreciated your time and gifts. And now you get to clutter someone else's home

It's a nice letter. All were lovely and most had drawings of their favourite instrument. We still have some instruments - piano, double bass (which we'll sell at some stage), piano accordion, a 1/8th size violin and a trombone. I think that's all except for Vince's mouth-organs. Can't forget them.
