So you’re here because you saw the words “country music” in the “old” song discussion and ran away screaming? Fear not, no country music here. Some people may be shocked to see just how different this is from today’s other song, but that’s my crazy world, and welcome to it. It’s today’s “age” song.
#4: Space Age Love Song - A Flock of Seagulls
Most people know the 80s band A Flock of Seagulls for “I Ran (So Far Away)” and lead singer Mike Score’s wild hairdo. Well, there was more to them than this song, and Score is bald now.
This song was the follow-up hit to “I Ran (So Far Away),” and I loved it so much more than the “big hit.” That’s not unusual for me. I might have to do a top ten list of songs where I liked the lesser-known follow-up better than the “big hit.”
Meanwhile, enjoy a great 80s flashback.

It was great to hear this old song again. I had not forgotten about it, of course. But when it comes to Flock of Seagulls, for whatever reason the only song that ever slips easily and readily off the tongue is of course I Ran.
But as the lead singer famously yelled at his audience who wanted to hear I Ran in a set where they decided not to play it, because supposedly the lead singer hated that song, "We have other effing songs!"

I saw Los Lobos a few years ago and they didn’t even do their only #1 hit! Bully for them! I guess they figured most people were there to hear something other than their cover of “La Bamba.”

@FourWalls It is often interesting to me how differently some bands view the music we love. For a while even Radiohead refused to do Creep.

Was I asleep during the 80s? I don't remember hearing this one.

I saw them when they were the opening act for the Police in 1981.

great song - i ran was in that genre where it got so much critical acclaim.
I know this is rare,
but I agree with you. I ran, was overrated in my book!
