I was ready to wish my November cactus goodbye until next year

When I discovered a new bud. So far that's the only one and the other four flowers are almost ready to die. This is the longest my plant has ever flowered and all because mz. Crazy sent me a link in watering the plant when it's blooming and in the dormant stages.
In the past I was lucky if mine bloomed on one side a few weeks to a month but I think this round is been blooming since January but I'll have to check first. I'm going to guess the first round lasted three months, from October thru December and then barely took a nap before beginning again in either January or February. February it's the first that I talked about it this year and it seems to be winding down but I won't know that until after seeing if any more leaves happen to bud.
In previous years it would only bloom on one side of the plant and only for a few weeks but I only watered it weekly during the bloom cycle. The link crazy shared with me showed me that I should water it more often when it's blooming and even mist it periodically. That seemed to make a world of difference for my cactus.
Mine is actually a November cactus although they are commonly known as Christmas cactus. Not all the leaves have the same shapes and they all don't bloom at the same time but most will bloom twice each year.

@LadyDuck I've gotten out of the habit of watering mine because it was around the blooms but now I have to remember again too water it more. Maybe I'll have another cycle of blooms. That would be different.

How often do your water it? Is it in a sunny window? Those two things might impact your cactus.

@Nevena83 it never bloomed even though it was large?
Mine wasn't blooming much because I want watering it enough. Now the I've started watering it more it's blooming longer and more often.

@MarshaMusselman I don't remember, because we ended up throwing it away. It was a huge plant because we had it for a very long time, but I never found out why it didn't want to bloom.

And maybe eventually the whole plant will flower. It flowered more this year than ever before.

Guess nature doesn't know what to do with itself. Glad it's sprouting new buds and is thriving.

I'm glad you and quite surprised. Maybe all the sunshine is keeping it thriving. Since I've never before had it last long I don't really know how long it has the potential of lasting.

It means it will last at least through one more flower blooming unless more come along too. I had learned the watering but I may just begin watering it more again too see if I can force out even more buds. If that works out will be news to me.

I got one pot two or three decades ago, from one of my relatives. Mine was never blooming lots like my relatives' pots (just a few flowers a year if I got lucky). The dog (or was it the rabbit) from one of my visitors' finished it in the end (I found the plant with its root up side down - minus any soil or pot during one one very hot day that summer. And that was that!)

You could always try again. If you do once you see a flower try to water it a little bit the times per week.
When I watered mine once or week I never had many blooms either.
