I often have thoughts about life in the past, present and the future. We know what life is about now and what it was in the past, but what about the future? Earlier times, it was easier as there was not much change over periods of time. Now changes in terms of technology are mind boggling and the pace is getting quicker and at times disconcerting. How if I am to return after fifty years? 1. Technology would make our lifestyle unrecognizable and, hopefully, it will not complicate and create more divisions. 2. Will there be more walls everywhere dividing people? I would hope to see more cohesion and cooperation. 3. The work style should be much different with gig workers becoming the majority. 4. An all electric mobility with ICE becoming an antiquity. 5. Renewable and non polluting energy displacing polluting fossil fuels. 6. World population on the decline bringing about drastic lifestyle changes. There would be events that we could not foresee. A couple of years ago, the reality of a pandemic bringing the entire world to its knees was unthinkable Now we are fighting to get life back to normal. We are never short of surprises and some are life changing. Hopefully, we will survive the hatred and ill will fostered by a few, and love, compassion, unity in diversity will triumph. We all need to fight against divisive forces like we have done in the past. How do you foresee life fifty years ahead? Image: Passage of Time from free media site Pexels

I think people will be more and more distant from each other and much more cruel.

That is true I think. I have seen many kicking away the ladder they used to climb feigning that is the practical thing to do. They want to preserve their private space with a vengeance. Only a change of heart with love and compassion triumphing can reverse this process.

@Nevena83 I would say if we get a true leader with wisdom, not mere politicians with their selfish agenda, then there can be a reawakening however far-fetched it seems now.

@Shiva49 I don't think people are ready for change. We are full of negative emotions ... I believe that this virus is also God's warning.

Amen and I wish people would give this some thought. Not sure if they do not because it scares them or what. I have done surveys and its so funny how surveys are sneaky manipulative. They only ask in a way where you feel like a jerk if you even question technology. I think technology is either gonna save the world or its gonna be its doom. I do not see a in between. I already said 20 years ago I thought internet is gonna eliminate poverty and homelessness because now everyone will be able to work where ever they are. I did not take in account how greed is so crippling and internet work is worse than working for Walmart because government does not say you have to at least pay them this minimum wage. The tools are there to make the world better its man kind itself as always holding itself back.

@Shiva49 Yeah thanks for saying ego and ego is as bad as greed, the I am better than you attitude, I used to want to punch officers in the face in the Marines because they literally thought they were better than the ones who actually fight the war One time in National guard after got out of the Marines joined them for state of California reservist army that protects the state. This Captain asks me where I am from, I say Redlands, he goes oh yeah, me too, what part North side, oh you in the low rent district. Dude, I am 23 what district should I be in? of course 44 now and still in same district. It just made me so irritated the way he said it and talked to another captain and he asked the same thing asked what I did and where I was at but he was at least cool about it, that's about right for 23.

@crossbones27 Jumping to conclusions is a way with some putting down others over frivolous and petty sentiments and preconceived notions. I was never out to impress anyone but let my work and attitude take over. I have found a few who were humble but one can trust their lives with them. They are the bedrock of society everywhere.

That is well said and analyzed, thanks Greed and ego are the two villains that we have had to grapple with from time immemorial. They feed on themselves as the powerful want to have their fill with those two irresistible foes of common folks. Agreed, the tools are getting more powerful but they cut both ways. Our long term gains should prevail over the short term. Societal good and welfare should guide us.

Here in my city a major change is happening in the public transportation industry. The long been used fossil fuel driven mode of transportation is now being replaced with electric powered vehicles. Though the fossil fuel powered vehicles are still allowed to ply our streets. But is is a major development. Maybe 50 years from now even private cars will be electric driven and solar power will be the major supplier of energy for every homes in our city and province.

@gamayngbaki I think a battery technology breakthrough is imminent as research is intensifying towards that goal. This would increase the range markedly.

I think the switch to clean energy and electric mobility will gather pace. Electric vehicles have lesser parts and soon the driving range will increase to make them cheaper than ICE to maintain and buy. There are already a few electric vehicle owners who charge their vehicles at home through solar energy and claim their fuel charges are nil!

Yes, we have to work on it rather than take it for granted. We have to grow in wisdom too as we can self-destruct more easily as technology cuts both ways.

I do not see any improvements to things like phones, tv's, or computers. They have reached a point where only cosmetic changes will occur. I think the major changes will be with the human body. Computers will be implanted in brains and brainpower enhanced. We will become superhuman's.

@innertalks Yes, there is already competition to get there first, get the first bite, and even hoard it all thereby spreading our tentacles of greed beyond this planet in pristine outer frontiers.

It is tough to foresee what improvements are required but some out of the blue can still occur Lots of new vistas are on the anvil, like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics. Maybe, our life span can increase but will it benefit mankind? It is time now for us to become better human beings in every possible way and not see enemies everywhere. Agreed, it is a tough call.

Life before was very beautiful. My childhood was very nice. There was no smartphone in 1990. They were great friends, they used to meet together. But now only old friends talk on WhatsApp and Facebook

Yes, after this pandemic face-to-face interactions have become rarer. I feel sorry for our children who are deprived of a joyful childhood where they meet and play without inhibitions and worries.
