Robin Babies Have Arrived

Happy Birthday to three baby robins in my yard. I have been writing about the beautiful blue eggs I found last week. A few days ago, I was able to get a photo of the female robin on the nest. I knew it wouldn't be long. Today I took a peak and there they were sitting in the nest. They open their mouths at any sound when they are this young. Looks like they were born today. Eyes are not opened yet. The momma was talking to me, so I only got one quick photo. So very excited. Photo is mine. ©CarolDM

@much2say I have learned to be quick over the years. Always excited. And I worry like a Momma would about these tiny babies.

I know, it is such an exciting time. I think feeding them year round has a lot to do with it. And the trees are maturing. I do not mind at all being called the bird lady.

@CarolDM Yes, I feel the same way. I also thought immediately of the empty nest photo from last year, after the babies grew up a bit and flew the nest.

That is so precious, isn't it? We have found a few empty nests here, so guess some are getting ready to lay eggs!

I've seen many robins in the yards but have never seen baby ones before. The robin is michigan's state bird.

@MarshaMusselman I always do this with nests I find. I was only there a few seconds. She and the babies will be fine. I also check to make sure no insects or anything that would endanger the babies are in the nest.
