Day 267 Promise 735 1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us: 15 And if we know that he hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. People want many things from life. However, not everything a person wants is good or right for him. John told the believers their confidence lay in asking according to God’s will, then they would receive their request. Many Christians believe their requests will be an automatic yes from God and He will give you everything you ask for because you are His child. That’s not the way it works. You need to ask according to His will. Does your request honor God? Will it bring glory to the Father? Will your request advance His kingdom? The requests you ask for are not your needs, God knows what you need and will always take care of your needs. The requests are your wants and desires. Those are not always good for you. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus told the people God would take care of their needs. Matthew 6:31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knows that ye have need of all these things. God told Isaiah about Israel’s future and told him, He would always hear and act even before they asked. Isaiah 65:24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. (KJV) God takes care of your needs before you ask Him, though He wants you to ask so you know it is He who takes care of you. Your requests are your desires. They are not always good for you. You need to ask according to God’s will. John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it. Don’t expect God to answer your request if it doesn’t bring Him glory, or is not according to His will. He will answer every request that is according to His will. Let’s pray: Father, help me bring You glory in everything I do. Let my requests be according to Your will. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. The rapture will happen in His time. Remember 2 Peter 3:9 He doesn't want anyone to perish but all to come to repentance. He knows who still needs to accept His Son, as Savior and Lord. Are all your family members saved? Mine aren't. I want to see them in heaven too. Have a blessed day.

@just4him no they aren't. My desire for a long time is that they come to Jesus. I've surrendered this to God and I keep praying for them. At the same time, I don't want Jesus to tarry because many are falling away. Come Jesus

Good morning dear friend. You made me remember one day that at the insistence of a friend, I visited an evangelical church (I am Catholic), I did it just so that he would know that I was not afraid to attend there, because I am very clear about the religion that I profess. The fact is that one of the leaders of the church was giving a talk about finances and how to deal with money. He made reference to the verses that you mention and made a lot of emphasis on a phrase "I want it or I need it", he said that if the answer was I want it, then that did not make God happy and he said things like that. But what impressed me was that when I left the church, I saw the man get into his truck of the year, very luxurious and there I asked myself "did he want it or did he need it". These are the things that I sometimes see and they seem contradictory to me.

Don't judge a person on outward appearances. It's the heart God looks at. A person of wealth and means can still bring glory to God with what they have. Consider the patriarchs, David, Solomon, and many others in the Bible, including Job. They were all wealthy and gave God honor in everything they did. God blessed them with wealth because they honored Him first before themselves. Look up Psalm 37:3-6 A Christian doesn't mean you must be dirt poor. Have a blessed day.

Yes. I agree. God will give us what is best for us. Not all we want will be granted for a reason. Thank you for the prayer. God bless us all

How do we ask according to God's will, though? Is it God's will for me to be physically healthy, for example? I would answer that God's will is his plan both for me, and for his world. When we ask for something fitting into that plan, it will be fulfilled then, but if we ask for something contrary to his plan, it will not be fulfilled then. We will grow in discernment, as we see what is answered, and what not. We need to continually read God's word, and pray often, and then we will understand his will for ourselves, and for the world better, then too.

Your last paragraph is the answer to your response. It is only in reading God's Word that we will know His will for our lives.
