Late lunch!

Nairobi, Kenya
May 5, 2021 8:23am CST
It's almost 4:30 pm. I'm having a late launch and I'm very hungry. As you can see, I have fried one tomato. Then I heated the vegetables. I don't know the name in English. It's a local vegetable with a local name. The rice is yesterday's leftover. I haven't warmed it. I like it that way. This combination is delicious to me. What did you have for lunch? Or what do you plan to have?

It seems late for lunch, here in my country we usually do it right at noon, of course sometimes we do it later due to time constraints. You know? I would like to know the name of these leaves that you have eaten, they call my attention. There you can tell me where you are from so I can try to locate that plant and find out if we have it in my country, Venezuela.

I'm from Kenya. We also have lunch on time but today I got home late. The plant is a mixture of two plants. It is a mixture for "terere" and "kunde". Search for those two names and you will see the photos

@mildredtabitha "terere" is what we call amaranth in English. "kunde" is called cowpea in English. I like amaranth but cowpea doesn't taste good to me.

@DaddyEvil cow what? I didn't think they have beautiful English names. Cowpea is nice when you cook and add milk in it and some natural spices. My mummy used to make that way because me and my siblings never liked it when we were children. When she cooked with milk, it was delicious that we couldn't believe it. Young small leaves of cowpea are sweet because they are fresh and haven't been scorched by the sun

Mom used to make a breading and put that on tomato slices and fry them. Your vegetable looks like our spinach. I can't usually eat rice. I just finished breakfast. I haven't even thought about what I'm doing for lunch.

@mildredtabitha "Breading" means some type of flour (mom always used wheat flour) mixed with different spices and then dusted onto the tomato slices.

@mildredtabitha Yes, check and see how it says to bread the tomato. I don't cook that way so could be mistaken. It's been years since I saw anyone bread and cook tomatoes

I didn't know it could resemble spinach. I like spinach too. No problem. You can share with us about it when lunch finally arrives. What do you mean by "breading"?

It looks like spinach to me! I am a night person--I get up around 11 AM so lunch is usually around 4-5 PM for me and I have my supper around 8-9 PM!

Wow! You wake up so late. Does this mean you don't have obligations like work that can cause you to wake up early? I'm glad what I call "late lunch" is considered normal. I eat supper very early around 6:00 pm latest 8:00pm It's not spinach
