The Paradox of the Living Dead and the Dead still Alive

Each person has a story to tell, but most are untold and die with that person. Life has not been fair to some. I have known a few who live for others but are unappreciated, not that they crave for any recognition. Then there are the few who get more attention than they deserve – what decides is a moot point. They live for themselves but in the end are well cared for while the former disappear into the evening of their lives unsung and unappreciated. While the living is left walking dead, the dead are kept alive in the memories of a few. When we live for others, the reward is in our living and not for approbation. When the selfish is feted and celebrated, it is also a part of the ways of the world. I look as a bystander and take in the views, chew the cud of life as I see it, reflect and share hoping for some meaning in what we go through. The best is to accept whatever comes our way and hope and trust there is some deeper meaning that may or may not be revealed later. Only faith and trust can soothe our conscience ultimately as a lot happen which defy logic. What is your take on the ways of the world? Image: Ways of the World from free media site Pexels

I like how you explain it. I've never seen it that way

I have known a few who made great personal sacrifices but those who benefited looked the other way.

@Shiva49 I think that don't matter. What matters is what they did even if they were never appreciated

@mildredtabitha That is true in an idealistic way. But a bit of appreciation would not do any harm. After all, we are humans.

Difficult question to answer. To be honest, I haven’t given it much thought. Just trying to manage the comings and goings in my own backyard. Full plate given the times we live in.

I can understand. Maybe, it is too general a question. And the reality of our lives has taken another turn for over a year now.

They never said life is fair. Quite the opposite. It's unfair. However, I live each day as it comes and hope for the best and give praise to God for His blessings.

Yes, that is the best way to maintain our sanity in tough times. We have intermissions of happy times, great weather, the unseen wind cooling our nerves.

I always look for a deeper meaning by trying to connect the dots from my various experiences, to make sense out of their existence within the whole scheme of things too. I look for understanding, but also I hope for some experience that will let me see behind the ways/workings of the world to what might lay underneath. I try to discern/find God's hand still within it all too.

@Shiva49 Yes, it does not look as if it will come to an end anytime soon. Yes, our patience is being sorely tested, as we try to stop ourselves from becoming patients too.

@innertalks Not easy to get stuck in unfamiliar surroundings without having a clue how long that will last.

Yes Steve, though we have many perspectives, and our own too, I am left to wonder how a few have been treated, dispensed with, in the end. I do hope there is a sort of method in the madness of life and how the world treats us. A few take it on their chin but it should still hurt and our collective conscience should take a beating too. We tend to avoid inconvenient truths rather than face them head-on, right the wrongs.

I agree, so many times selflessness is rewarded with apathy. Caring for others is often unpaid and unappreciated labor. I do firmly trust and strongly believe in an almighty God who loves and appreciates each of us. Our ultimate reward for service to Him and others will come from Him in His time.

I think that is belief in the ultimate justice. Otherwise, life becomes a business, taking advantage of others' kindness.

That is correct, only faith and some trust can soothe. That is also my take..for this world shall perish.

Whatever created has to perish, bite the dust. Each species has a life term, so do planets, stars, even the universe itself.

I like to reflect on life in general, chew the cud of my past and how it could turn out in the future. We also have unwelcome visitors who overstay their welcome like this ongoing pandemic. It acts like a computer virus looking for ways to outwit the best of antivirus software.
